The Deal

  • IHG One Rewards is offering a 15% discount on awards of 1-3 nights for stays booked by February 12, 2025 with travel to be completed by April 6, 2025. Access to the sale comes in 3 waves:
    • IHG Credit Card holders: Book between February 7-12, 2025
    • Platinum Elite and Diamond elite members: Book between February 9-12, 2025
    • February 7, 2025 and February 12, 2025. Stays must be completed by April 6, 2025 to qualify for the 15 percent discount offer. IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members will be able to receive a 15 percent discount on Reward Nights booked between February 9, 2025 and February 12, 2025. Stays must be completed by April 6, 2025 to qualify for the 15 percent discount offer.

Key Terms

  • The Offer is available when booking a Reward Night at a participating hotel through an official IHG online reservations site while the member is signed into their IHG One Rewards account.

  • The Offer is for a 15% Reward Night discount off of the number of points needed to book a stay using points only.

  • This Offer does not include a discount for stays using Points & Cash.

  • To qualify for this Offer, Reward Nights must be booked during the “Booking Window” for stays through 6 April 2025.

  • The offer is based on the time zone of the participating hotels at time of booking.

  • Please note that the Booking Windows will vary slightly, due to time zones, depending on where you are located and where the desired properties are located.  You should keep in mind the time zones that apply to your desired participating hotel when making your bookings to ensure you fall within the Booking Window for your desired property.

  • The Offer is not available to use along with the “Fourth Reward Night Free” cardmember benefit when booking a stay of four (4) or more consecutive Reward Nights.

  • The Offer will be applied for eligible cardmembers booking three (3) or fewer consecutive Reward Nights.

Quick Thoughts

This could obviously make for a good deal for those with short award stays  to book. Do note that this will not stack with the 4th night free benefit carried by the currently-available IHG One credit cards since the discount is only available on award stays of 1-3 nights.

One thing I find particularly notable when they run these sales is that the discount can make some properties eligible for using an IHG free night certificate that wouldn’t have been before the discount. As an example, I just looked up a night in New York City and I see that the EVEN hotel Times Square would have been 41,000 points before the discount, but as an IHG credit card holder, I can book it for 34,850 points.

I have the old no-longer-available-for-new-applicants IHG credit card with the $49 annual fee. That card comes with an annual 40K Free Night certificate, but unlike the IHG Premier card’s annual free night certificate, my certificate can not be topped off with points. In other words, I couldn’t use my free night certificate for the EVEN hotel at the before-discount price of 41,000 points per night. However, because the discount drops the award price below 40K, I can use my capped free night certificate.

I therefore always take a look when they run these award sales because they often bring properties into reach that were previously just beyond the cap on my free night certificate.

The 15% discount could certainly be useful here whether booking with cash or with points, but keep an eye on the clock as this sale is only on for a few days. Remember that cardholders have access now, but otherwise Platinum and Diamond members won’t get access until tomorrow.
