We posted last week about the new IHG PointBreaks list being schedule to go live today (See: New IHG PointBreaks list coming on Monday). Unlike in years past, IHG only released a short preview of the hotels rather than a full list. Hotels are now live for booking for stays from April 30 to July 31, 2018 as of a few minutes before noon and the full list has now been updated. If you’re interested, I suggest refreshing the page and/or checking hotels you’ve got your eye on sooner rather than later as the most desirable properties often get booked up fairly quickly. Remember that if you are short on points, there is a targeted sale for 20% off cash & points stays (See: Buy IHG points from 0.46 cents each w/targeted promo) and that sale ends today. If you book with cash & points and then cancel, you’ll get refunded in points – esenntially making it possible to buy points for as little as 0.46 cents each. See that linked post for details.

The Deal

  • Book IHG PointBreaks properties now for 5K10K, or 15K per night (depending on the proerty)
  • Direct link to the new full list (refresh if you’re not seeing the new list)

Key Terms

  • Each member can make a maximum of two reservations per property (each can be for as long as you like, but you can’t make more than 2 separate reservations)
  • Subject to the hotel’s normal cancellation policies

Quick Thoughts

Again, the full list is not yet out, but the picture above is from a property in China that was on the preview list a few days ago. There are sure to be some deals (in fact, the cash rate at that hotel was $113 + tax), so look and book as you can cancel at most hotels pretty easily (subject to the individual hotel policies) if need be.

Lei you forgot “and/or in China” 😀

lei

lol, at least they are all fall into 5000 cat.

Considering how cheap many mid-range hotels are in China, 5000 even isn’t that great of a deal. I can probably find an under $50 place cash and get some hotels.com rewards.

Wow – I didn’t expect them to so quickly and transparently eliminate the value of the Points Breaks program. I thought they would at least ease into it.

This was the one compelling offering of their rewards program. They’re clearly transitioning it to another “pretend deal” like the “Use your 20% off Coupon before it expires!!!” emails I get from BBB, and I am at least appreciative for their voluntarily narrowing the choices I have to consider when I travel, as I see no need to give any more business to IHG in the hopes of being rewarded at a level that meets the rewards offered by other programs.

Pretty sad list from IHG. Don’t see any value there.

sam

Wow. Those really stink. I’d have thought they’d have at least started with a decent list and then gone downhill. They just went straight to the toilet.

lei

should not be called “pointbreaks” anymore, should name it “Big sales for US Holiday Inn Express and Candlewood”….

rick b

Holiday Inn Manchester East is around 50-70 GBP per night. LOL, what a joke, this so called point break is under 1 cent per point value
