A little while ago, we reported that chase is no longer taking applications for the Ritz-Carlton Rewards Visa Infinite. The Points Guy had reported an official from Chase stating that the card was pulled today for new applicants. However, in the comments of our post, a reader shared what looks to be a working link.
If you have any interest in applying for this card, time is surely extremely limited. There’s no telling when this link will stop working, and along with it the chance to pick this one up before it’s gone. In the past Chase has honored applications for “zombie links” like these, so you should be good to go if approved. Hat tip to reader PDXKelly for pointing this one out.

Hey Greg
Applied for this the night it went away and called recon tonight and got accepted. I have a Marriott account with literally no stays or status on it and when I filled out RC app, I didn’t put in a number (cuz I didn’t have one for RC)
Can you guide me to a place on your site or explain quickly what I should do to get best status? I know people are saying I should get platinum but idk if I need to call before August or should wait after August or what?
Thank you
The trick is that you’ll have to find out your Ritz Rewards number. I imagine you’ll get a membership card in the mail eventually. You don’t have to do anything else. That account should become Platinum on August 18th. Of course you’ll want to spend $4K on the new card to get the 2 free nights though.
Hi Greg, my new RC card came with my Marriott number on the back. My sp g and Marriott was combined previously and has gold status from amex card. Do I need to unlink Marriott and spg account?
I’m in the same boat. Marriott number on the back of my new RC card. The benefits card states that I will have Gold Elite status in the RC program. But I’m wondering if it will just be in the Marriott program in general since there is no separate account number. And in that case, will it still become Platinum on Aug 18?
[…] reaction: This hurts those who hurried to sign up for the Ritz card before it died, though I still think opening the Ritz card now was a better value play for those who would not […]
[…] Frequent Miler posted a link that could still be used for to apply yesterday. But it is no longer working. It could be worth checking the link in the next couple of days to see if it does, but don’t hold your breath. […]
Hi Nick and Greg
Thanks for the link! Was able to get it approved very last minute 🙂
Have a question though.
Originally had my SPG Gold through Amex and this was matched to Marriott Gold. My understanding was that this would be Gold in the new program and not Platinum, and therefore RC was the way to go now to secure that new Plat status through Feb 2020.
Submitted the application without a RC member number, and after approval I called CS to see whether I needed to do anything to link the accounts, if the RC number would be different to Marriott at this point, etc, AND here’s the puzzling thing to me: rep told me that my status had been updated to Platinum. She said it have been done a few days ago due to the fact that I had been previously matched to Marriott Gold through my SPG Gold. My understanding is that Marriott Golds through SPG will only be Plat until the end of this year. What can I do to make sure that my Plat status comes through this just approved RC card, and therefore good through Feb 2020, and not through the matched SPG gold?
Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance
I don’t know why you would be Platinum. What does your account show if you log in? Also, what was the answer to the question you asked them about whether you had to do anything to link accounts? Most likely you were assigned a new Ritz rewards number and you’ll have to combine it with your Marriott number to make everything work. Or, better yet, just wait until the Ritz account gets upgraded to Platinum later in August and then call to merge the accounts.
Hi Greg,
Thanks so much for the reply. Right now, my Marriott account shows Platinum Plus, and my SPG, Platinum Preferred. Both were Gold just a few days ago. When I first called them to find out my number, the Chase rep told me that they wouldn’t have that information yet, and I asked them if they could put me in touch with someone from RC. They did, and the person from RC asked me for my name and address to see if she could find the account. She came back saying that she saw my Marriott account and that it was Platinum, that it had been updated a few days ago. Didn’t see a RC# for me. Just called again to the premium number for JP RC (1‑855‑896‑2222) and the rep said that I don’t have a RC # assigned, and that it can take between 7-10 business days. Have tried to create a RC Rewards account but when I put my info I received a message saying that I already have a Marriott account.
Seems like you may have lucked out. There’s a reasonably good chance that your Platinum status will convert to Platinum Premier on August 18th. If I were you I’d just wait and see what happens.
Link is dead, anyone find a new working one?
Very unlikely. I’ll keep my eye out, but this is likely totally dead now.
…. and it’s gone ….
Sure is. Marked it dead.
Instant approval. Nothing like the frenzy of the disappearing act to make one decide they suddenly must get the darn thing.
Thank you FM & reddit, who also has the link. Last time around (2014) I made sweet use of a special stay at RC HKG — the best treatment in a hotel lounge of my lifetime. Pity that one’s not included these days. Ah, but the game dwindles.
GL to all who are last-chance scramblin’ now.

Pulled the trigger, pending!
I applied for my wife. Will we not get Platinum Elite status if we don’t get approved before August? I got this message: Thank you for your request.
We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision by U.S. mail. This could take up to 30 days.
Thank you for choosing The Ritz–Carlton Rewards® Credit Card.
I got the same results, lets pray!
I received a pop-up and email stating “We have received your request for a J.P. Morgan credit card. We’ll let you know our decision by U.S. mail. This could take up to 30 days.
Thank you for choosing J.P. Morgan.
I followed the advice of a different blog and called in. They just needed me to reallocate some of my credit line from a different Chase card to the Ritz card to get it approved…
Chase Reconsideration Phone Line / Number for Denied or Pending Applications
If your Chase application status is denied or pending, you can call:
888-270-2127 (Personal Cards) – Updated Phone Number
800-453-9719 (Business Cards)
New Chase Reconsideration Phone Number: Chase changed the phone number for personal cards. The old number 888-245-0625 has been disconnected and replaced with 888-270-2127.
These are live credit analysts who have the power to approve your pending application or reverse your denial over the phone. Be nice to them!
Glad that worked out. As a reminder, we keep recon phone number info on our best offers page at the top of each bank section: https://frequentmiler.com/best-credit-card-sign-up-offers/#ChaseTop
VFTW just came out saying the AMEX SPG Luxuary card is not available to those with Ritz card. along with a bunch of other limitations, its disappointing to me since I had been waiting for the card.
That’s disappointing to me too, especially since it’s not just the Ritz card that’s the problem. VFTW wrote that having received a bonus on ANY Chase Marriott card (including business card) in the past 24 months would make you ineligible for the new bonus. Very few of us will qualify for the bonus anytime soon if that’s true!
Zombie links with no mention of a signup bonus have happened in the past. I’ve never heard of Chase approving a new account like this with no sign up bonus. I put the likelihood of that scenario (no bonus) at about 2%. But let’s say that 2% happens — you still get $600 in airline incidental credits in the first year (calendar year benefit), a repeatable $100 companion fare discount, and what will become new Marriott Platinum status. It’s not really a loss — and I think there’s a 98% chance you also get the 2 free nights….and maybe even your annual “up to 50K night” in time to cancel and get the fee refunded if you choose not to continue with it. YMMV and to each his own in determining whether or not you want to chance it, but I would wager that the signup bonus gets honored.
very true, but lets also think abut the amex ramifications. its been rumored that u miss out on the amex lux bonus if u have the RC card and/or got the RC bonus 24 mo ago. if the 125k amex bonus is true and the restrictive lang is also true, i would rather go for that instead. flex pts vs expiring 2 nites. its no brainer for me but like u said, its YMMV.
the free two nights will become 120k marriott points come August
where did u hear that MSR met after AUG 1st and gets certs issued after AUG 1st gets the pts conversion without deval? cuz everyone who gets the CC now wont get the certs until way into AUG.
the 2 free nights will be floater certificates, it has been confirmed those will be converted to points at its maximum value. Tier 4 is 60k points.
Where did you see that confirmed?
read it from other blogs, SPG lurker was sure about the floater certificates but couldn’t confirm about the travel package free nights.
I have not seen anything that makes this certain. And since the Marriott FAQ still says that these certs will be replaced with new points-based certs, I’d still place my bets on getting a cert rather than points (but I’m hoping for points!)
Join the discussion…Where is this information coming from?
This will be awesome if it’s true. Was approved for 2 cards
Exactly why I’ll hold off and put all my eggs in the SPG lux basket.
I would’ve signed up for the 18-month Plat status alone. I have 2 million WRs I can redeem til year end (at .0207) from an SPG timeshare purchase – combined with Platinum status is going to be a fabulous 18 months am hoping. My timeshare has become even more valuable as I can also now convert it’s points annually to MRs. I would have never considered when SPG points could be earned easily thru cc spend but now can make sense.
Got my card/welcome packet the day offer was pulled – will TSA let me thru security with that heavy metal card that feels more like a weapon?! Is seriously twice the weight of the CSR even.
App went “pending” – I called recon next day & moved credit limit from my CSR card to the RC.
What about the possibility that the sign up bonus is no more?

No mention of the 2 free nights. Do you think that’s still included?
Yes
