JetBlue Mosaic changes: elite year extended, Family Tiles announced, some perks devalued for Mosaic 1 and 2

1

Yesterday, JetBlue announced a number of changes coming to the True Blue program in 2026 and early 2027. One positive change is that the elite status year will extend until the end of January instead of the end of December. That’s helpful for those who are completing re-qualifying activity late in the year. There is also a big positive change coming for family travelers, with parents being able to earn tiles based on their children’s activity. On the flip side, there are several small devaluations coming to Mosaic 1 and Mosaic 2 status, which may be somewhat of a disappointment to those who have recently chased 25 years of Mosaic 1 status.

JetBlue extends the elite year

As noted at the top, the JetBlue Elite year will now end on January 31st instead of December 31st. Note that the period for elite qualifying activity is still January 1 to December 31, but benefits will last for the following calendar year and through January of the year after.

In other words, if you earn 50 tiles during 2026 (between January 1 and December 31, 2026), you will get Mosaic 1 status for the rest of 2026, all of 2027, and until January 31st of 2028.

This is helpful for those whose re-qualifying activity is completed late in December. Imagine you have earned Mosaic 1 status during 2025, so your status would run through the 2026 membership year. In the previous system, that status would have been set to expire on December 31st, 2026. The trouble with that system is that members working to requalify may not complete requalifying activity until the end of December. If, for example, you earned your 50th tile based on activity on December 30th or 31st, it would take some time for that activity to post to your JetBlue True Blue account. As a result, at the beginning of January, your status would drop until that qualifying activity was processed and backdated. That meant that a member requalifying based on activity toward the end of December might lose their benefits for early January travel. Extending the elite year through the end of January means a seamless extension of benefits for those who requalify late in the year.

Extending the elite ear through the end of the following January is therefore a positive change.

Family Tiles coming 2/1/26

JetBlue will be launching family tiles on February 1st, 2026. This is really good news for family travelers, as it means that tiles earned by children 12 years and under can count toward perks and status for the parent. As a parent who travels with two kids under 12 years old, it would be great for me to be able to earn tiles based on the spend for their tickets.

Increased earnings for Mosaic 3 and 4

Also starting on 2/1/25, Mosaic 3 and 4 members will earn more TrueBlue points per dollar spent when booking on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.

Mosaic 3 members will earn 4 bonus TrueBlue points per dollar spent (for a total of 10 points per dollar) when booking on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.

Mosaic 4 members will earn 5 bonus TrueBlue points per dollar spent (for a total of 11 points per dollar) when booking on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app. Mosaic 4 members will also earn 2 additional Move to mint certificates (for a total of four).

Lounge access coming for Mosaic 4

Interestingly, Mosaic Four members will also get complimentary JetBlue Lounge access when the JetBlue lounges open. That’s interesting because the other major United States airlines do not offer lounge access to elite members. My understanding is that this stemmed from regulations in the 1970s and then just carried on because it was a revenue stream for them. This is an interesting move for JetBlue, although it oddly disincentivizes the most loyal customers from getting their premium credit card, since the core perk of that card is lounge access. That’s a bit of a head scratcher.

Changes coming to Perks You Pick

JetBlue’s announcement included a note about changes coming to Perks You Pick in 2027, so any perks you pick in 2026 will end on January 31st, 2027. Oddly, the announcement was devoid of more detail. That’s strange because some of those perks you pick would be far less valuable if you earn them late in the year and can only access them for about a month. For instance, if you choose priority boarding in December 2026, you’re only going to get it through the end of January 2027. I don’t understand what’s going on here, but it doesn’t seem like a positive change at this point.

Negative changes coming for Mosaic 1 and 2 from 2/1/25

Unfortunately, there are several negative changes coming for some Mosaic members from February 1st, 2026 onward that affect both new and existing bookings.

For starters, Mosaic 1 members will only get one free checked bag for travel from February 1st onward (they currently get two free checked bags). Mosaic 2, 3, and 4 members continue to get two free checked bags, and Mint bookings will continue to include two free checked bags.

Perhaps a more painful change for family travelers will be an adjustment to EvenMore (extra legroom) upgrades.

Currently, the Mosaic member and up to eight travel companions on the same reservation get access to EvenMore upgrades (at booking for Mosaic 2 and above, and at check-in for Mosaic 1). Starting on February 1st, Mosaic 1 and 2 members will get this benefit for themselves, plus up to two travel companions. Mosaic 3 and 4 members can access EvenMore upgrades for the member, plus up to four travel companions.

As a family traveler, I would find that to be a bummer since I would no longer be able to upgrade the whole family (although since my entire family of four is completing the Jetblue 25 for 25 promotion, we should all end up with Mosaic 1 status and this won’t actually be an issue in my family, but it certainly might be in many other families where only one member earns status). I also find this kind of surprising because of how widely available I found EvenMore seats to be at check-in. We flew to 20 destinations from late July through the end of August, with some airports being repeated (so we took more than twenty flights), and I believe there were only three flights where we didn’t get EvenMore seats for my entire family of four at check in, and at least one of those flights had four EvenMore seats available, but it was two pairs of middle + window seats (none of them were aisle seats), so we didn’t take the upgrade. In other words, it didn’t seem to be a challenge finding space, so it doesn’t seem that JetBlue is selling a lot of those seats. On the flip side, they probably are anticipating far more elite members thanks to 25 for 25, so maybe they thought this was necessary.

Bottom line

JetBlue has announced some program changes taking effect next year. A few of those are positive, like the extension of the elite year and the launch of Family Tiles, though it’s a bummer to learn this late in the year that EvenMore upgrades will apply to fewer people on your reservation starting in just a couple of months.

Thanks Nick.

Under “increased earnings for Mosaic 3 and 4”, you write effective 2/1/25 when I think you mean 2/1/26.

Do you know which Mosaic 4 members get access to the additional move to mint certs, and when?

I’m closing in on the 50 tiles needed for the year-long match to M4 that is supposed to include the MTM certs. Would be delighted if two more were added to the file.
