Avianca LifeMiles is offering 15% off on some Star Alliance awards booked between today (12/10/21) and 12/14/21. The list of eligible routes is pretty short and mostly includes domestic US routes, though on the lone international route (between Newark and Tel Aviv), both United and other Star Alliance carriers get the same discount.

Quick Thoughts

As you can see above, the eligible routes are very specific and narrow, but this can nonetheless be a good deal if you need to fly in economy class on one of the eligible routes. Since almost all of the routes included are only served by United, I initially thought that either the list was just for example purposes of a more widely available sale. However, based on my handful of searches, it seems like the list they show may be the entire list of eligible routes.

I was further disappointed that the discount only applies to economy class awards. That probably isn’t a problem for those looking to redeem between Newark and Cleveland or maybe Detroit, it may be less interesting on the Newark to/from Tel Aviv route.

Speaking of that international route, I found the discount to apply to both the nonstop United flight and to other Star Alliance carriers, so you aren’t limited to United only.

LifeMiles does not list a specific travel period and I found the promotional pricing on the eligible flights all the way through the end of the schedule, so if any of these routes are appealing to you there is a wide travel period.
