Marriott Bonvoy is once again offering a faster path to elite status for some members: emails are being sent out offering double elite night credits on paid stays. This offer is targeted. I would assume that to mean that only those with little / no stay activity to be eligible, but Stephen Pepper was targeted despite being on the verge of Platinum status already this year, so it’s worth checking to see if you’re eligible.

  • *Registration must occur within three weeks of receiving this email.
  • Registered Members can earn double Elite Night Credits on all eligible paid nights consumed during the promotion’s earning period (the “Promotion”).

  • Only one room per hotel is counted toward Registered Members’ nights.
  • Credit toward this Promotion is given for nights consumed at participating Marriott hotels that occur within the Earning Period.

  • Rooms booked through most third-party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this Promotion.

Quick Thoughts

I’ve bolded a couple of the key terms above for emphasis. To recap: award stays are not eligible. I expect that applies to both reservations on points and those made with free night certificates. The second key to note is that the earning period starts the day after you register. Don’t wait until you’re ready to check in to register. On the other hand, don’t register sooner than you’re ready — the promotion period includes the rest of the calendar month in which you register and the next 3 calendar months. If you were able to hold off on registering until June 1st, I believe that means you would have until the end of September to complete bonused stays.

Whether or not you’ll be able to wait until June 1st depends on when you’ve received the email. As has been the case with other similar offers, you’ll need to register within 3 weeks of receiving the email invitation. If June 1st is within that window for you, and you don’t have many paid stays planned in the next two weeks, it might be worth holding off until the first of the month — just be sure to set yourself a reminder so you don’t forget to register.

While it’s unfortunate that award stays don’t count, it’s still nice to see this offer going out to members, including those who have a good deal of stay activity. With some upcoming paid stays in my near future, I was a little disappointed not to be targeted for this, but I’ll continue to keep my eye on my email in case that changes.

[…] Marriott double elite nights being offered again [Targeted] (Expires 8/31/19) […]

Aaron

I am a titanium and already requalified for platinum this year…at 60 nights already…and received this offer. It definitely isn’t targeted just for people with little to no stay activity.

Am-ba-lam

Will this promo count for lifetime nights or just for status for this year?

Siv

I have an upcoming stay between 1-3 June so if I enrol on 1st June would that mean I i will have the entire month of June + additional 3 months (July Aug Sept)?

However the catch is..if I enrol on 1st June (Asia Continents time hence still 31st May in US) will the system be recognising the US time format and hence start the enrolment on 31st May which means I only 3 months (June July Aug)? OR it will start on June and last through to July Aug Sept)?

And since my stay will be during 1-3 June I will want the system to count my double nights as soon as I enrol so, long story short, my question is should I enrol on 31st May or 1st June if I have an upcoming stay on 1-3 June (to be able to enjoy the double nights promo rightaway) AND to have the promo all the way through to end of September.

I received an email for 9000 points upon completing three stays: 1500, 3000, 4500. I’m already titanium this year, so I’ll take it.

Ryan

I received an offer and was surprised. Have 41 nights thus far and just finishing up a 3 night stay (not sure if they will count). I’m Platinum from last year as well.

Kyle

I got an email offering me 4500 points after 2 stays. 1500 after first, 3000 after second. Within next 3 months. So not as good as the one above, but still a nice free offer for extra points. Maybe it’s no longer noise around the edges and they want to play nice?
