Marriott promos: Earn 2k points per stay + 2k points for MGM + 2k points as cardholder

Marriott Bonvoy has opened registration for a couple of new promotions that offer a total of three different ways to earn 2,000 bonus points per stay.

The Deal

• Marriott is running the following promotions:
  • Earn2Ways promotion – Earn 2,000 bonus points per 2+ night paid stay, plus 2,000 additional bonus points if that stay is at an MGM Collection property

  • Cardholder promotion – Earn 2,000 bonus points per 2+ night paid stay if you’re a Marriott cardholder.

  • Marriott Bonvoy Members who register for this promotion by November 12, 2024, will earn 2,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus Points on each post-registration paid stay of two or more nights at any participating Marriott Bonvoy property, resort, or destination, plus an additional 2,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus Points on each eligible paid stay of two or more nights at MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy destinations (“MGM Collection”), during the 77-night promotion earning period.

  • The promotion earning period is for eligible paid nights completed between September 10, 2024, and November 26, 2024, and is only for stays booked through direct Marriott Bonvoy channels at properties participating in Marriott Bonvoy, including MGM Collection.
  • There is no limit to the number of completed eligible stays of two or more nights a Member can earn bonus Points on during the promotion earning period.
  • Only eligible paid stays completed after promotion registration and during the promotion earning period will qualify for any bonus Points earned with this promotion. Please note that a hotel must participate in Marriott Bonvoy at the time of the stay to qualify as a stay under the promotion terms.
  • A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity on any Points-eligible rate (“Qualifying Rate”).
  • Award redemption stays, including Cash + Points Awards, Free Night Awards, or a Points redemption, are not eligible for the promotion.
  • Rates available through most third-party online retailers and select travel agency rates do not qualify for this promotion (“Non-Qualifying Rate“).
  • Paid stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy are eligible for promotional credit.
  • Stays at BVLGARI, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Marriott Executive Apartments, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, The St. Regis Residence Club, and The Luxury Collection Residence Club, are not eligible for this promotion.
  • Only one room at one property on each eligible paid stay is counted toward a Member’s eligible paid stay for the promotion.
  • In most cases, stays are posted to the Member’s Account within 10 business days after checkout. After the completed stay posts, the 2,000 bonus Points on each eligible paid stay of two or more nights at participating properties in Marriott Bonvoy will generally be awarded to the Member’s Account within 5 business days.
  • For paid stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, these bonus Points will be posted up to 6 weeks after the promotion earning period ends.
  • The additional 2,000 bonus Points on each eligible paid stay of two or more nights at an MGM Collection destination, will also be awarded to the Member’s Account up to 6 weeks after the promotion’s earning period ends.
  • A Member who elects to earn Miles is not eligible for this promotion.
• Cardholder promotion
  • After you register for this promotion between August 27, 2024, and November 12, 2024, you can earn 2,000 bonus points on each Eligible Stay of two or more nights at Marriott Bonvoy participating properties that, in whole or in part, occur between September 10, 2024, and November 26, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”).
  • To be eligible to earn the additional 2,000 bonus points on each Eligible Stay of two or more nights during the Promotion Period, you must be the primary account holder and have an active Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card that was issued prior to August 16, 2024, in Canada, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, or Qatar.
  • Only paid stays of two or more nights completed after registration that occur, in whole or in part, during the Promotion Period at Marriott Bonvoy participating properties are eligible for this promotion (“Eligible Stays”).
  • Your Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card account must not be canceled or in default at the time of bonus fulfillment.
  • A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity on any points-eligible rate (“Qualifying Rate”).
  • Only one room at one property on each Eligible Stay is counted toward a member’s eligible nights for this promotion.
  • Award redemption stays, including Cash + Points Awards, Free Night Awards, or a Points redemption stay, are not eligible for this promotion.
  • Only bookings made through direct Marriott Channels are eligible for this promotion.
  • All Marriott Bonvoy properties are participating in the promotion except for the following properties, which are not eligible for this promotion: The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott Executive Apartments, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Regis Residence Club and Luxury Collection Residence Club.
  • There is no limit to the number of times the bonus can be earned for Eligible Stays during the Promotion Period.
  • Stays generally post to your Marriott Bonvoy account within 10 business days after checkout.
  • The 2,000 bonus points on each Eligible Stay of two or more nights at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels should appear in your Marriott Bonvoy account within 3-5 business days after the stay posts and will not appear on your bank issued credit card statement.

Quick Thoughts

While these aren’t outstanding promotions, by Marriott’s standards they’re actually fairly generous – particularly if you’ll be booking cheaper two night stays. If you book a 2+ night stay at an MGM Collection property and have a Marriott credit card, you’ll earn a total of 6,000 bonus points, but for a non-MGM hotel you’ll earn 2,000 or 4,000 bonus points depending on whether you’re a cardholder or not.

What’s a bit of a shame is that this promo is only valid on paid stays – Cash + Points stays, award nights and nights booked with a free night certificate aren’t eligible nights for the purposes of either of these offers.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Earn2Ways promotion is valid on stays at Marriott Homes & Villas properties. That brand is normally excluded from these global promotions, so the 2,00 bonus points should stack with any other Homes & Villas promotions are available when making your reservation.

With this being Marriott, the registration process is – as should be expected – not working properly for everyone. When clicking on the registration links, the pages weren’t loading properly for me, displaying mostly blank pages. However, when logging in to my account and going to the Promotions page, I was able to both view the two promotions and register for each of them.

Seeing as these bonus point offers are only available on paid stays, remember to click through from a shopping portal before booking – here are the current rates. If you’re not needing to book immediately, it’s worth visiting Marriott’s website anyway with the Capital 1 Shopping portal browser extension installed and wait a day or two. I frequently get targeted offers for 7.5% cashback or more which nearly always beats out the cashback rates available through other shopping portals. Also keep an eye out for Marriott Amex Offers and Chase Offers that can save you even more.
