There are a number of recently-released Amex Offers available that are valid on travel, including offers for Delta and Carnival. If you have upcoming travels, it’s worth logging in to look for these and other travel-related offers — but the devil is in the details, so be sure to check key terms.
The Offers
Delta: Spend $200 or more, get $40 back
Key Details: Terms indicate that you can spend $200 in one or more qualifying transactions, so you can reach the threshold with multiple transactions if making smaller purchases. Oddly, however, the terms indicate that the deal is only valid on round trip travel and only on US origins to the following destinations: Boston, Raleigh-Durham, and Seattle. Furthermore, the terms indicate that travel must be nonstop (no connections). I have no idea whether or not this will be enforced, but it sure is specific.
Carnival: Spend $350+, get 7500 Membership Rewards points
Expires: 8/19/19
Key Notes: The terms indicate that this one is only valid on the cruise itself and not for onboard purchases, excursions, gift cards, etc. The terms also indicate that you must book direct, either via Carnival.com or the phone number, though I believe that in the past these offers have been triggered even when booked through your preferred cruise agent since the transaction is usually processed by Carnival. YMMV. If anyone has used the offer this time around, let us know what triggered it (or didn’t) in the comments.
Bottom line
Both offers are pretty solid if you have travel plans that match up – just watch out for the oddly-specific terms on the Delta offer. As always, we have added these to our current Amex Offers database.
[…] New offers for Delta & Carnival (check the details) (Carnival Amex Offer expires 8/19/19, Delta Amex Offer expires 9/5/19) […]
I got the same offer, and I’m not based in any of the locations mentioned. I wonder why the offer is only valid for those 3 specific airports? Are they trying to compete with Jetblue and Alaska?
Silly question, but do you have complete your travel by 9/5/19, or just complete your purchase by that date to get the credit?
Complete purchase.
Just a small heads up — the offer I have is for flights originating in BOS/RDU/SEA, so there seem to be multiple versions of this offer. Says “Flight must originate in BOS, RDU or SEA to any U.S. airport. USD only. See terms.” Same non-stop requirement.
yep I have the “to any U.S. airport” version and I am SEA based. I think there are two versions, ‘to’ and ‘from’ BOS, RDU or SEA and you get a version depending on if you are located in one of 3 cities or any other cities.
They’re probably not allowing connections because of throwaway ticketing. Wonder how it will be enforced though.
