New United Mile Play offers out (YMMV)

United Mileage Plus is out with new “Mile Play” offers. These are targeted offers that they release now and then to entice members to book trips. Often times, the offers are relatively low, but now and then you can score a nice chunk of miles.

Quick Thoughts

My own offer this time around is to earn 11,000 miles after booking and taking three trips of $225 or more each. Given that our Reasonable Redemption Value for United miles is 1.3c per mile, that’s like a return of about $143 worth of miles for $675 worth of travel — an incremental return of about 21.2%, and that’s on top of the miles I’d normally earn for the trips. That would be a pretty good deal if I had occasion to book trips on United (and I actually may have a round trip to book, so I’ll consider booking that as two separate one-ways that count as separate “trips” if I think I can make a third trip during the travel period).

Stephen’s offer is considerably lower, but also considerably easier. He would need to book and fly one trip of only $100 or more by June 18, 2025 to earn 3,000 bonus miles.

Keep in mind that the minimum spend for these offers is before taxes and fees. Be sure to check the price breakdown to be sure that the base fare meets the requirements. Note that United does make it possible to search specific fare classes, so if you are looking at a trip where the fare you see displayed in a search is just a bit too low, it is likely possible to book a slightly higher fare class on that flight for a bit more money. United tends to only display the cheapest fare classes, but if you click “advanced search” on the home page, you can enter multiple fare class letters to look for one that meets the terms of the promotion.

Keep in mind that you need to register first. You can do that in the United app or at the link above.

1x $250 for 2,500 miles

Fly 3x ($150 or more) and earn 19K miles. Tempting, even though I don’t fly United much these days. But I booked two one way flights yesterday on another airline, might consider re-booking.

Fly 4x ($100+ each) earn 7200 points/miles.

Doesn’t appear so, but any way to buy up (besides higher fare), like with seat selection, or anything? I’m $7 short and next fare is double

Levy Flight

Mine was a pitiful offering. Fly three times ($300 each) and get 5000 points. These offers come in after I have booked travel for coming weeks and so have zero value unless I cancel existing tickets. I just deleted the email.
