New United Mile Play Offers: See If You’re Targeted For Bonus Miles

17

United has released another round of targeted Mile Play offers and, in at least some cases, they’ll be easy challenges to complete.

Neither my wife nor I have been targeted for the last couple of promotions, but we both received offers this time.

The Deal

  • Earn bonus MileagePlus miles when completing United Mile Play offers.

Key Terms

  • Only original offer recipients can register for and participate in this promotion.
  • Member must register for this promotion on or prior to June 7, 2024. Only transactions initiated after registration and completed on or prior to June 7, 2024 will qualify toward satisfaction of the offer requirements.
  • Registrant must complete all activity specified in the offer to receive bonus award miles. Partial bonuses for completing only certain activity will not be awarded. Bonus award miles may only be earned once.

Quick Thoughts

Mile Play offers vary from person to person – if you’re even targeted – so there’s not one single offer that’s applicable to everyone and it seems like, more and more, they send out offers in waves as opposed to all at once. My offer gives 11,000 bonus miles when taking two trips with United by June 7th. A “trip” is defined as a flight that costs more than $225 and one-way flights count.

There are a couple of important things to be aware of when it comes to United Mile Play offers. The first is that the spending threshold for the flight(s) you need to take relates to the fare itself. There are various taxes and fees added on when booking paid flights, so in my case the fare + carrier-imposed surcharges portion has to be at least $225, without counting government-imposed taxes and fees…but your spending threshold might be higher or lower.

The other key thing to be aware of is that qualifying flights have to be booked after you’ve registered for the promotion. Last year, Nick booked a United flight just a couple of days before being targeted for MilePlay. However, because that was booked before registering for his Mile Play offer, it wasn’t eligible to be a qualifying flight to complete the offer requirements. Thankfully that was easy to remedy; the price hadn’t changed, so he was able to cancel and rebook it in order to earn the bonus miles from the flight.

Does using travel bank cash or future flight credit to book a flight qualify you for the bonus miles?

LuAnne

Take two trips $150 each earn 4,100 points, doable.

VIS

2 trips, $100 minimum each, 2500 miles. Definitely not enough to get me to fly United given that their fares are almost never competitive these days

Lukas

1 trip, $275 minimum, 5,800 miles.

VIS

$200 spend, premium seat, 5000 miles. I like it.

Reyl

I was targeted for 5,000 miles. Wish I could take advantage of it. On a similar note, Southwest keeps lowering the price on my trip to LAX in March and I keep re-booking at the lower price. Are these indications of travel demand softness? If so, similar offers should also pop up from other airlines.

Ivan

One trip, $100, 3k. I’ll be flying from SFO to SJD early March so I’ll likely take advantage of this.

It’s not very compelling and usually I fly Alaska on that route but I’ll try to fly United to pick up the points.

Kaza

Take 3 trips of $100+ to get 7,000 points. Not being a super-commuter, that’s a no, but hopefully far more others will have a better offer.

P2 had a decent offer – book 2 trips, get 12k, ea min $200. But the timing is so tight – must be completed by 3/15.

DMoney

1 trip for min $100 for 3k bonus miles. Pass

Lukas

1 trip, $250, 4,700 miles. I think all of these offers will be a pass unless you have to fly anyway, so it’s a nice bonus.

Additional DP for the same offer: 1 Trip, Min $100 for 3k miles
