Quick Thoughts
Just a couple of years ago, you could snag these spring time one-way deals from Florida as cheap as five bucks a day, so this year’s deals aren’t that exciting to me (apart from Hertz, anyway). While Hertz is advertising from $7.99 per day, Brian Cohen at The Gate shows an example with a base rate of $7.19, so it is possible that you’ll find cheaper deals (perhaps from all of the above rental companies). The Gate also previously reported the Avis and Budget deals.
At $8 per day or maybe even $15 per day, this might not be a bad deal if you’re just itching for a road trip up the East Coast. If you’ve been loading up on fuel point promos lately, it might even work out to be a cheap way to make your way north. While $25 per day doesn’t sound like a “deal” on a rental car, it’s still pretty good considering the fact that you won’t pay a one-way drop-off fee, which can sometimes make car rentals very expensive. Make sure you use a card that offers primary CDW coverage for your rental.
Thank you, Nick! Scored a 10-day Hertz rental for $105 total from MCO to CLT, allowing us to make the 10-hour drive to a rental cabin in the mountains (split over 2 days) without having to do same drive home after finding 2 Economy MileSAAver Award seats on non-stop CLT-MCO for only 15k AA miles total (plus $11.20 taxes, of course). Great improvement to our regular plan, thanks to this article!
