Update 11/30/24: Quick reminder that this promotion is live today.
~
Preferred Hotels has announced details of an upcoming promotion that has the potential to be a very good deal. Not only can you save 35% on the best available rate, but you’ll also earn 35,000 bonus points when booking a stay of three or more nights.
The Deal
- Save 35% off the best available rate and earn 35,000 bonus points when booking a stay of 3+ nights with Preferred Hotels.
- Direct link to offer (note the promo dates below).
Key Terms
- Offer valid December 2-4, 2024. Early access for I Prefer members on November 30-December 1, 2024.
- Valid for travel through March 31, 2025.
Quick Thoughts
Saving 35% off the best available rate could be a decent deal, although that will also depend on what other rates are available (e.g. I Prefer member rate, advance purchase, AARP, etc.).
What makes this Cyber Sale particularly interesting is the 35,000 I Prefer bonus points you’ll earn. When doing a little bit of research last month, Nick discovered that I Prefer points can be worth anything from 0.415-0.91cpp (cents per point). That means 35,000 points could be worth anything from $145-$320. If you’re able to book a not-so-expensive three night stay and can redeem the bonus points at the top end of that estimate, that could be a stellar deal.
Don’t forget that Preferred Hotels’ I Prefer loyalty program is now a Citi ThankYou transfer partner, so that’ll give you an opportunity to top up your points balance if necessary.
Note that this promotion starts on November 30 for members of the free-to-join loyalty program, so we’ll republish this post as a reminder on Saturday once the sale is live.
Stephen, do you have any idea if the “best available rate” is bookable with points?
Sorry, I’m confused by what you’re asking about. The best available rate is a paid rate – you won’t get a 35% discount on the award price if that’s what you were wondering.
PSA – Certain iPrefer properties can opt-out of iPrefer point redemptions. For these properties, one must reduce iPrefer points to a cash voucher and present it as a credit against one’s bill. A very poor redemption rate. If you have a target property you’re thinking of, better check it for point redemptions.
