Quick Thoughts
We peg the Reasonable Redemption Value of Preferred Hotels’ IPrefer points at 0.5 cents per point, meaning you should be able to get at least $175 of value when redeeming the 35,000 bonus points you’d earn from this promotion. That’s a potentially excellent return depending on how much you’d be spending on the stay of two or more nights, especially considering you’d also be saving up to 35% on the stay.
I’d taken a quick look at rates the other day before this sale started. There were a handful of properties with room rates below $100 per night, but there are now more than 20, so it does seem like there are legit savings to be had. About half those hotels are in Mexico, but other countries with sub-$100 nightly rates available include the US (in Minneapolis), Peru, Japan, Canada, Argentina, Finland, and more.
For example, the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel in Japan has rooms available from $56 per night before tax. Although the Preferred Hotels website has some annoying quirks, one of the great things about it is that you can see nightly pricing for two months at a time. If you have any kind of flexibility with your travel dates, this makes it much easier to identify the cheapest room nights.

Depending on where you click through from, the MKTCYB25 rate code might be auto-applied. Beneath that pricing table, there’s a check box to state that you have a promotional code; just in case, enter MKTCYB25 there. The first time I clicked through to this property the code was auto-applied, but the second time it wasn’t listed there, so the nightly pricing was higher:

When clicking through to view the room types available, be aware that the pricing you see at that point includes taxes and fees. I’d selected December 22-24 when the first night is $57 and the second is $56; with taxes, the nightly rate averages $70.78 per night. In this instance, the discount might’ve been 35% off the hotel’s standard rate, but in reality was only a ~19% discount off the cheapest rate. Still, it’s a noticeable difference.

Getting two hotel nights in Kyoto for less than $150 while also earning points worth $175+ is an excellent deal if you can take advantage of this kind of opportunity.
Something important to be aware of is that you have to register for the promotion to earn the 35,000 bonus points. The up to 35% discount is available provided you use the MKTCYB25 rate code; that’s the rate code you have to use to earn the 35,000 bonus points too, but that has the additional step of registration required beforehand.
It’s also worth clicking through from a shopping portal to earn additional rewards. At the time of publishing this, it looks like Rakuten is the only portal that has Preferred Hotels listed (under I Prefer Hotel Rewards).
Rooms have to be booked by December 1, but it’s valid on stays from that date through to June 30, 2026.
