Last week, my wife was about to fly to London on one of her many business trips when we realized that we hadn’t prepared her hotel experience. She had booked the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury via the third party booking site Agoda, but we hadn’t set up her reservation to be recognized as elite.
We’ve stayed at this particular hotel a number of times in the past. It’s very nice and in an awesome location. But she had booked the smallest room option through Agoda and was hoping for an upgrade.
Two days before her reservation, I emailed the hotel to see if they could add my Radisson Rewards number to the reservation. They replied no. Since the reservation was in my wife’s name, they couldn’t do it. So, we decided to status match my wife to Gold instead.
My wife opened her Hilton account on her phone and took a screenshot showing her Gold status, her Hilton account number, and her full name. She emailed this picture to StatusMatch@radissonhotels.com with the following message:
Can you match my status from Hilton Gold? See attached.
My Radisson number is: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Exactly an hour and a half later, she received this reply via email:
Dear XXXXXXXXXX,
Congratulations! I have upgraded your Radisson Rewards account to Gold Elite status effective immediately and expiring on February 28, 2020 (unless otherwise earned).
To see all of your new Elite Member benefits, please visit https://www.radissonhotels.
com/rewards/memberbenefits I appreciate the opportunity to assist you. If I have not met all of your needs, please let me know.

That is awesome! While I’m not a big fan of the Radisson Rewards program in general, this fast turnaround was terrific. We then emailed the hotel to add her Radisson number to her reservation. Done.
When she checked into the Radisson Blu Edwardian Bloomsbury two days later…
She was upgraded to a larger room (not an amazing room, but very nice nonetheless):
And she received a nice Gold Elite Welcome Gift:
About elite status and 3rd party bookings
Most hotel chains say that they do not honor elite status benefits on 3rd party bookings, but in practice they often do so. It seems to be up to the hotel as to whether or not they provide these benefits. At the very least, it never hurts to add your elite rewards number to a 3rd party reservation just in case benefits are offered.
Is it just Hilton? Or other programs?
Via statusmatcher.com it looks like they’ll match from just about any hotel program to Radisson Gold
Has anyone had luck matching from Hilton Diamond to Radisson Platinum?
I haven’t seen anyone have luck with that. Reports on statusmatcher.com show Hilton Diamond to Radisson Gold
Good information. I don’t stay at Radisson hotels very often either, but I hold onto the Radisson Rewards Business Visa (not presently available) for the Gold membership status.
