Quick Thoughts
Nick wrote about Rove Miles last week, so that post is well worth checking out to learn more about this new transferable points currency (See: A look at the Rove Miles platform: Earn transferable miles for bookings & shopping, use miles for outsized value).
As he noted in that post, the rates available through Rove’s shopping portal feature aren’t, for the most part, very compelling. However, this increased rate for Giftcards.com is far more interesting.
Shopping portals normally offer varying levels of rewards for Giftcards.com purchases depending on if you’re buying Visa/Mastercard gift cards, multi-brand gift cards (like One4All) or third party gift cards for single brands like Airbnb, Outback Steakhouse, AMC Theatres, etc. However, we’ve checked with Rove and they’ve confirmed that you’ll earn 4x no matter which gift card brand you buy, including Visa and Mastercard gift cards.
Earning 4x miles on Visa and Mastercard gift card purchases is therefore very attractive compared to rates available through other portals, especially considering they can then be transferred to the following programs on a 1:1 basis (other than ALL):
- Accor Live Limitless (Transfers 1,500 to 1,000)
-
AeroMexico Rewards (SkyTeam)
- Air France / KLM Flying Blue (SkyTeam
- Air India Maharaja Club (Star Alliance)
-
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (oneworld)
-
Etihad Guest
-
Finnair Plus (oneworld)
- Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club
-
Qatar Airways Privilege Club (oneworld)
-
Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus (Star Alliance)
-
Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles (Star Alliance)
-
Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles (SkyTeam)
Rove Miles does have a browser extension, but it doesn’t seem like the increased rate is available by solely using that. Instead, you’ll need to go to the Rove Miles Shopping site and click through to Giftcards.com from there.
There’s currently a Giftcards.com Citi Offer that’ll stack with this 4x rate. We also sometimes see Chase Offers for Giftcards.com that give 5% back as a statement credit. I’m not aware of the Chase Offer being around right now (I double checked the Cardpointers app for known offers), but with the start of a new month in a few days, we’ll likely see a large batch of new Chase Offers being launched which might include Giftcards.com. If so, you’ll have a few days on which you can stack that 5% back with 4x from Rove.

I wonder what FM would say is a RRV for Rove Miles?
Why is this interesting? $5.95 fee on 250 max.
These are tracking much better than most airline portals fwiw
“Miles is not available on purchases exceeding $2,000 or when a coupon code is used.” – So like most portals 1x per month or is each order. If each order interesting… if not.. just OK
Karl Rove company?
As in a person who roves . . . travels. As in Range Rover.
