Quick Thoughts

This is a great award sale, especially seeing as Turkish Airlines already has a number of sweet spots. For example, you can book one-way business class flights to and from Europe for only 45,000 miles each way normally which means it only costs 31,500 miles each way during this sale.

Turkish Airlines JFK-IST

My wife and I flew Turkish in business class from Amman to Chicago via Istanbul a few months ago. While it wasn’t as amazing a flight as I’d been anticipating given how much people rave about the dining experience, it was certainly a comfortable way to fly across the Atlantic and at only 31,500 miles to Europe right now, you’d be hard pressed to find something as good value as that.

Bear in mind that this is only valid for flights on Turkish metal, so you won’t be able to book flights to Hawaii for only 5,250 miles each way in economy on United metal.

There will also be taxes and fees to take into account. For example, when flying JFK-IST you have to pay $170.70 on top of the 31,500 miles.

This Turkish Airlines award sale is valid on flights through the end of May, but you have to book by the end of December to take advantage of this promotion. The discounted pricing, free changes and ability to get a refund for award bookings means that there’ll likely be some speculative award booking going on. It’d therefore be worth making reservations ASAP if there are flights you’re interested in because award availability will likely dry up long before the end of this month.

Turkish Airlines is a transfer partner of Citi ThankYou, Capital One, Marriott and Bilt. Transfers from Capital One are instant, while from Citi and Marriott it can take ~24 hours; we’re not sure yet about the transfer time from Bilt.
