A new Amex Offer is out today that’s good for Shell gas stations in the US: Spend $30+ via the Shell app, get 1,000 Membership Rewards points (or there is likely a $10 statement credit version). For those on T-Mobile, this will make for a nice stack with the weekly discount of $0.10 per gallon (and the $0.03 you get just for being a Shell Fuel Rewards member.

Quick Thoughts
Keep in mind that the terms indicate that you’ll need to use the Shell app to trigger this offer.
This is a nice return on a fill-up if you have a Shell nearby. I do not have a Shell near me, but I’m on my way to New York City for the weekend and could easily stop at a Shell to fill up along the way. Ironically, I think this is the first time I’ve forgotten to sync the T-Mobile Tuesdays offer for $0.10 off per gallon (which stacks on top of the usual member discount for a total of $0.13 off per gallon), so I guess I’ll be holding off for another opportunity to take advantage of stacking the offers.
While I imagine there is also a $10 statement credit version of this offer, we only found the Membership Rewards version on our cards. That’s OK with me as I value the points at greater than $0.01 each anyway.
Got the $10 version on Gold card. In the app, can add to Chase and Apple Pay (but not the CC card itself). Will try adding AMEX to Apple Pay and give it a shot!
I chatted with both Shell and Amex. Shell said their app works as it should. Amex said it should work if you add their card to a third party wallet since there is no small print saying you cannot (unlike other Amex promos). Hope they are right.
After reading your post I searched all my Amex cards to see if I was targeted for this offer. None of my 7 personal or 2 business cards were targeted. Is there any behavior one can do to potentially receive more targeted offers?
No, nobody has figured out a method to Amex’s madness.
Problem is, app does not let you add the card, only Samsung Pay or Google Pay
I hesitate to take advantage of theseoffersv that require using an app.
Would be great if you could explain how the technology challenged! Thanks!
