There’s a targeted Amex Offer giving $5 back when spending $75 or more at Shop Small Dining locations. That $75 spend can be made in one or more transactions and you can earn the statement credit a couple of times.

• A “qualifying purchase” means a purchase made at a merchant location featured within the “Dining” Category on the Shop Small Map in the US or US territories available, at americanexpress.com/us/dinesmalloffer, or the “Dining” Category on the Online Directory, available at americanexpress.com/us/dinesmallonline, including purchases made through Resy.com or the Resy mobile app with your enrolled Card [or with Pay with Points linked to an enrolled Card] on or before 8/26/2022 in accordance with these terms.
• You may not receive a statement credit if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as qualified for the offer. For example, you may not receive the statement credit if (a) the merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services or (b) the merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or (c) you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.
• Note that we may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided by merchant.
• Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is cancelled. If we do not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit.
• Limit of 2 statements credits (total of $10 back) per Card Member.

Quick Thoughts

A lot of local restaurants should show up on the Shop Small Dining map, so if you’re targeted for this Amex Offer you’ll hopefully have a number of options near you. What makes this offer more useful is that you don’t have to spend $75 in one transaction in order to earn the $5 statement credit; you could spend $15 at eligible restaurants five times and still get the $5 back.

Needless to say, the best option would be to load this offer to a card that offers bonus points on restaurant spend if you’re lucky enough to get it on multiple cards. If you signed up for the Amex Platinum or Gold cards a few months ago, you should still be earning 10x or 20% back respectively on dining, so those would be particularly good cards to load the offer to.
