Singapore Airlines has launched a new set of Spontaneous Escapes between Singapore and select worldwide cities for travel in August. For travelers based in North America, this month’s list isn’t terribly attractive, but there are some very good values for travel between Singapore and India or Australia.

Quick Thoughts
Singapore Airlines’ Spontaneous Escapes can be an excellent way of reducing costs when booking award travel. They are released at the middle of the month and usually apply for travel the following month. In this case, travel must be booked by the end of July and is valid for August only.
I’m an advance planner and usually have travel booked a few months ahead, but I always keep my eye on the monthly Spontaneous Escapes award drop, especially with many programs offering easy cancellation on award bookings. I’ve been able to get some great value in the past.
This month’s sale doesn’t offer anything for travelers wishing to go to/from North America and Europe, but much of Singapore’s route map is on sale to/from India and Australia. Award availability in most programs is sparse to both, so it could be useful in piecing together itineraries to either destination.
Regardless, it’s worth having Spontaneous Escapes on our radar, especially as we enter the shoulder seasons, when the best deals usually pop up.
“isn’t terribly attractive” is putting it mildly, since not a single route to North America is on this list. Singapore award prices are not competitive, and their business class seats are just plane bad compared with other Asian carriers. I’d only be interested in an aspirational F flight, but of course F is never on the spontaneous escapes list.
