Earlier today, we posted about a new Amex Offer for Marriott hotels (See: New Marriott Offer (Possible stack with Lux benefit?)) and another for select Hilton brands (See: Embassy and Home2Suites offer: $50 or 5K back on $250 (stack w/ Double Points through 9/9)). As many readers noticed, these offers can be synced to multiple Amex accounts using the multi-tab method (the Marriott one seems to work for everyone, though I’ve seen some mixed reports on the Embassy Suites offer syncing to multiple cards). At this point, there is no clear indication as to which offers can be synced to multiple cards – the best method appears to be trial and error.
It turns out that the Marriott offer even has a dedicated link. You can sync that offer via this direct link. H/T to reader David for pointing that out. Note that this offer can even by synced to Hilton cards via that link as seen in ths screen shot above.
Stephen Pepper posited a theory that perhaps these offers were set up with Amex before offers ceased to be syncable to multiple cards. His basis for that theory is that the Mariott offer excludes SPG properties, so perhaps this offer was planned before the merger was finalized and therefore potentially far back enough as to not be coded to only be allowed once per SSN like other offers. Another theory is that some offers will be limited going forward and others will not be limited, likely somewhat dependent on the partner and who bears the brunt of the cost for the offer. I think that the introduction of new offers that can be synced multiple times likely indicates that the latter is true and multi-sync Amex Offers aren’t completely dead after all. Perhaps we will see some variety after all in Amex Offers being usable multiple times via the multi-tab method. At the very least, this is good news for those looking to save a bundle on Marriott stays since the savings could certainly add up if used on multiple cards.
For more on using the multi-tab method, see our Complete Guide to Amex Offers.
Nick my man! This is the reason I subscribe to this travel blog :). Work conference in November, I will prepay, be fully reimbursed by my employer, and get $240 back from Amex.
Thank you (And reader David who made it so easy)!!
You should really consider stop promoting Marriott right now because they clearly have not figured out how to merge with SPG nor answer their telephones. They are sinking and once Small Luxury hotels comes on board with Hyatt that will put the final stake in their luxury offerings……….they are the new Motel 6 worse than Delta’s peso’s miles…………….
I probably shouldn’t post this, But if you use two computers, or your computer and a mobile device, and activate the same offer on two different cards at the same instant, it seems to work on every offer that I’ve tried.
I tried to use two different browsers on the same computer, but the delay between clicking in each browser often leads to a fail.
Yeah, you shouldn’t, unless you want this dead too. Delete this. I will send you an amazon gift card if you do, just give me a throwaway email.
Sorry… wish I could delete it, but it’s not letting me delete or edit. Nick is welcome to get rid of it.
No worries mate. It’s already confirmed that it’s all up to each individual offer’s rules anyway as we knew from DoC posts. Cheers.
It did not work with the JetBlue offer today but has worked with other offers in the past for me.
Tried it. It doesn’t work. It all depends on the terms of each offer as has been posted before in DoC, etc.
it seems to work sporadically for the marriott, but def not hilton and supermarket 10% offer. later on, i realized marriott could have been easily done using multitab just like what Doc said today so it’s just a waste of my time
