Quick Thoughts
Note that this cardholder offer is giving double Companion Pass qualifying points, not redeemable Rapid Rewards points. This offer will therefore only be of interest for cardholders seeking to earn a Companion Pass this year.
With a limit of 10,000 bonus qualifying points, you’ll max this out when spending $10,000. You already earn 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points towards the 135,000 points requirement just for being a cardholder, so if you max out this opportunity you’ll be at 30,000 qualifying points for the year.
Unlike the Freedom/Freedom Flex 5% categories for Q1 which includes insurance for March payments only, this Southwest cardholder offer is valid for insurance payments throughout Q1 (i.e. from now until March 31, 2025).
This spending offer could also stack with other spending offers. For example, I wrote yesterday about an offer on my account giving 3,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points when spending $1,000. That’s valid on any purchases, if I needed to spend $1,000 on insurance payments in the coming weeks, I could earn a total of 4,000 Rapid Rewards points as well as 2,000 Companion Pass qualifying points.
Not valid in California where no insurance for homeowners is available.
Stephen, any idea if this is only works on the SW personal cards? It doesn’t specifically say it excludes SW business cards but it does mention home owners insurance. I have both and would prefer to use the business one to maximize the bonus.
I’m not sure I’m afraid. I only have a personal Southwest card and I didn’t see anything in the terms stating if it’s restricted to only personal cards, or if business cards are eligible too if you have them.
Thank you, it is not clear to me either. Maybe I’ll test it and report back.
