Southwest is back with another sale today, offering discounts of up to 40% when using promo code WOW. There are lots of blackout dates and locations and discounts range from 20%-40%, so this promo isn’t necessarily as WOW as it first appears. That said, if your travel dates are eligible for this promo then it could lead to some substantial savings.

Quick Thoughts
This type of sale is best for someone with lots of flexibility considering the best savings are available for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and that there are several excluded travel dates, particularly in March.
If the travel you want to book is eligible though, you could save a fair chunk of change. For example, here’s a Tuesday in February flying from Norfolk, VA to Chicago, IL.
Seeing as Southwest award pricing is tied to the cost of cash pricing, when there’s a sale like this the award pricing drops accordingly. For example, here’s the same flights shown above when booked with Rapid Rewards points.
Promo code WOW is valid on flights booked by January 11, but it’d be worth booking ASAP as prices will inevitably rise as the cheaper flights get booked up.
