Southwest has launched a new sale that’s good on both paid and award flights to and/or from California when using promo code SAVE40. You have to be quick though as flights have to be booked by tomorrow (August 10).

Quick Thoughts

This is a useful sale if you’re planning any travel to and/or from California, especially seeing as it’s valid on flights through mid-February, albeit with blackout dates over the holiday periods in November and December.

The easiest way to check routes is to click on the link above and scroll down to the ‘Search for low fares’ section. You can then select your departure city and see which destinations are eligible for the promotion.

The 40% discount is offered on all fare types, although there might be occasional flights where the discount isn’t applied. For example, Los Angeles to Colorado Springs has many flights each day where the discount is valid, although the 3:30pm flight via DAL isn’t eligible.

The great thing about Southwest promos such as these is that because award pricing is tied to the price of paid flights, using the SAVE40 promo code discounts the number of Rapid Rewards points you need to redeem if you’d rather book an award rather than paid flight.

Even though this promo is valid on flights through mid-February, you have to book by tomorrow (August 10), so you’ll want to book ASAP if this sale fits in with your plans.
