Doctor of Credit reported a nice stacking deal at Teleflora. If you’ll be sending flowers for the holidays, this is worth a look.
The Deal
- Stack an Amex Offer, portal cash back, and 30% off coupon code for a deal on flowers at Teleflora (see the details under Quick Thoughts below)
Quick Thoughts
There are three components here:
- There is a current Amex offer good for $20 back on $60 at Teleflora that can be repeated up to 10 times
- Shopping portal Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is offering 12% cash back / 12x Membership Rewards points (read more about changing your earning preferences here)
- Rakuten also has a link for a coupon that provides 30% off at Teleflora
I tried going directly to Teleflora and then through the Rakuten link and it did indeed take 30% off the prices I had seen before going through the portal.
Of course, sites like this are often overpriced compared to going through a local florist. But there are a few things that might still make this worth a look. First, I don’t know flowers. I don’t know what to tell a local florist to put together. Call me a simpleton: I like looking at the pictures. Second, the value here could still be pretty strong. If you were to maximize this (and assuming you take 12% cash back or do not value Membership Rewards at greater than 1c each), here’s what it would look like:
- Find an item with a regular price of $62.87 (just theoretical, you won’t find something with exactly this price. Find something higher)
- Go through Rakuten, activating 30% off. Item price should drop to $44.01.
- At checkout, it looks like Teleflora adds a $15.99 service fee. This would bring your total to $60, triggering the Amex Offer.
- After Amex Offer, you’ll have paid $40 cash.
- Get $5.28 back from Rakuten
- Net cost = $34.72
For a delivered floral item in the price range, that’s probably not bad.
Furthermore, if you want to be selective about the florist you choose, it looks like Teleflora gives you the option to pick your preferred Teleflora partner during checkout. There was only one option to choose for my test zip code, but I imagine there may be more in larger areas.
While this may not result in a knockout deal, it looks at least pretty solid and one to keep in mind if you’re thinking about sending flowers to someone anyway.

If you can’t find something you like that meets $60 with the discount, go with a lower coupon, like 25% off.
