Happy gift cards seem to be perpetually on sale somewhere. Staples.com is currently offering three of the Happy brands at a 20% discount.
The Deal
- Buy select Happy gift cards with a 20% discount:
Key Terms
- Expires December 22, 2018.
- Limit 10 of each card.
Quick Thoughts
20% off Happy gift cards is a good discount, especially seeing as there’s a limit of 10 per card and you can earn 5x/5% on the purchase with a Chase Ink Plus or Ink Cash card.
This deal seems to be online-only, so you’ll have to wait for the cards to be delivered. As such, the discount is shown on the Staples website as a 23% or 28% discount as they usually tack on a $1.99 delivery fee, but that fee is waived for this particular deal.
We’ve provided direct links to the cards above, but it’d be best to click through from a cashback or airline portal in case the purchase tracks. That sometimes happens with gift card purchases on the Staples website, although some recently tracked gift card purchases have been getting their miles clawed back.
It’s a shame that Happy Guy and Happy Lady gift cards aren’t on sale as those can be used to purchase third party gift cards at Home Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond respectively. Seeing as Buy Buy Baby and Bed Bath & Beyond are part of the same company though, the Happy Kids cards might be of interest if Buy Buy Baby sells third party gift cards – does anyone know if they do?
Otherwise, some restaurants offer $10 or $15 limited-time promo cards when buying their gift cards during the holiday season. If any of the restaurants which can be paid for with these select Happy gift cards have one of those offers, you could effectively get $60-$65 worth of value for $40.

I was able to exchange Happy Kids gift cards at Bed Bath and Beyond for Disney gift cards.

To expand this a little further, Gift Card Granny says Buy Buy Baby gift cards can be used at Christmas Tree Shops, Harmon Face Values, One Kings Lane, and Cost Plus World Market, besides Bed Bath & Beyond. Might be something to look into if you have one of those stores nearby (I have a Cost Plus World Market near me).
I’ve read in the discussion section on Doctor of Credit that people have been able to use the Happy cards that list Buy Buy Baby at BB&B. I haven’t personally attempted this yet, but I will try after I receive the cards.
I’d been wondering about this but haven’t bought one of the Happy Kids cards before and so hadn’t had a chance to test it.
I am just reporting back that the Happy Kids card works at BB&B. This week there is also a $10 BB&B rebate card on the purchase of $50 or more third party gift cards.
Great – thanks for confirming!
Buy buy baby does sell gift cards like Bed Bath and Beyond and Harmon.
Thanks for confirming that!
