Staples is running another deal on Visa gift cards starting on Sunday. We’re playing it fast and loose with the term “deal” though because it’s nowhere near as good as their semi-regular deals waiving the activation fee on $200 Visa gift cards.
The Deal
- Buy $100 Visa gift cards at Staples and save $3 off the activation fee.
Key Terms
- Offer valid September 13-19, 2020.
- In-store only.
Quick Thoughts
I don’t think I’ve ever bought a $100 Visa gift card from Staples, but I think they come with a $5.95 activation fee. If that’s the case, you’d be paying a $2.95 activation fee which for most people isn’t going to be worth the cost, time or effort even when paying with a 5x card, especially when taking into account potential liquidation costs.
It seems a strange promotion to run as I doubt there will be many takers for this. Staples appears to realize this and so hasn’t listed any kind of limit as to how many you can buy.
seems like the vgc promotions at staples are getting worse and worse every year. pretty soon, they’re going to give you just 25 cents off the card fee. 🙁
I end up buying other things at Staples when I’m there for a decent vgc deal. This won’t get me in the door at all. Strange indeed.
