Barclays is targeting some JetBlue cardholders with a spending offer that doesn’t directly award any bonus miles, but it does help to rack up Tiles towards Mosaic status. Having said that, those Tiles can in turn earn you bonus points, so this is an interesting offer even for those not aiming for Mosaic status.

Quick Thoughts
It’s not often that we see credit card spending offers that don’t award bonus miles / points / cashback. This JetBlue spending offer is one such anomaly because rather than awarding bonus TrueBlue points, it awards bonus Tiles that count towards Mosaic status.
A reader sent us details of this email offer they received. Barclays often sends out a variety of targeted spending offers on its suite of cobranded cards, so keep an eye out for this or some kind of other offer in your inbox and/or mailbox if you have any credit cards issued by Barclays.
The reader has a JetBlue Plus card which ordinarily earns one Tile for every $1,000 of spend on the card. Earning 20 Tiles for only $2,500 of spend is therefore a pretty decent offer if you’re looking to earn status with JetBlue or increase the level you’re already at.
Mosaic status starts at 50 Tiles, so this spending offer would get you more than 40% of the way there seeing as $2,500 of spend will earn you two Tiles as standard, as well as the 20 Tiles from this spending offer. JetBlue also offers Perks along the way to Mosaic status. You can pick one of the following for every 10 Tiles you earn from 10-40 Tiles:
- Group B boarding (excludes Blue Basic fares)
- Priority security
- One alcoholic drink per flight
- 2x points on a JetBlue Vacations package (one time use)
- 5,000 bonus TrueBlue points
Although this Barclays spending offer doesn’t directly award bonus points, you can parlay the 20 Tiles you earn into bonus points by picking the 5,000 bonus points option. You’d be able to pick that twice – once at 10 Tiles and again at 20 Tiles – so you’d end up with 10,000 bonus points on $2,500 spend. That’s effectively a 4x return on top of your normal earnings which makes this spending offer compelling even if you aren’t going to earn 50 Tiles this year for Mosaic status.

Very exciting to see my tip made the news! I was pretty stoked when I received it but wasn’t sure it would be worth it in the long run since I am 11 flights into my 25 (all booked!) and will walk away with mosaic come hell or high water. I did not know that you could choose the 5K points every 10 tiles (I already chose 5K with my first 10 tiles and assumed this choice would disappear after choosing it once). Now I am rethinking this as walking away with 12,500 points for $2500 spend is much more exciting than a drink and Group B boarding!
I think you can choose it twice, but I’m not 100% certain of that now you mention it. Let us know if that’s not the case though if/when you get to 20.
