Quick Thoughts

Status matches are fairly common when it comes to airline and hotel loyalty programs. What isn’t as common is when an airline goes a step further and offers you a status upgrade when “matching” from another airline’s elite status which is exactly what Delta is doing here.

If you’re targeted for this promotion and take advantage of it by August 15, you can extend your Delta elite status through January 2023 by meeting the following qualification requirements:

  • Gold status – Fly 18,000 qualifying miles or 12 segments
  • Platinum status – Fly 28,000 qualifying miles or 22 segments
  • Diamond status – Fly 50,000 qualifying miles or 55 segments

It’s probably no coincidence that this Delta promo went live on the same day that American Airlines’ new Loyalty Points status program went live. That could be great news for anyone who started off the year with a ton of qualifying activity with American Airlines that’s now also earned them the 30,000+ Loyalty Points required to earn AAdvantage Gold status or higher. If you were also targeted for this Delta elite status upgrade offer, that American Airlines Gold status could be parlayed into Gold status with Delta which would be an unexpected bonus.

So, it is only an upgrade for 2 weeks? I called American Express and they said I have to call Delta? I am on with Delta and they have no clue. From what you are stating, I would have to fly between those 2 weeks in August 2022? I have MVP Gold with Alaska Airlines

Snoozed

So, If you have United status with an Amex Platinum, can you get Delta Gold?
