Quick Thoughts
Southwest has been running these 2x Companion Pass qualifying point promotions for several quarters. Based on past quarters, my understanding is that these spending offers are targeted and the wording in the terms that this offer “applies only to Cardmembers who receive marketing communications” seems to back that up. When clicking through to the registration page, you should see a yellow ‘Register’ button. If you don’t, I’m afraid that means you’re not targeted.
If you are targeted, this is a useful promotion if you’re trying to earn your way towards a Companion Pass. You can earn up to 10,000 bonus Companion Pass qualifying points, so if you max that out you’ll have earned a total of 20,000 qualifying points.
As noted at the start of the post, Companion Pass qualifying points aren’t the same as Rapid Rewards points that can be redeemed for award flights.
If you’re targeted for both spending offers, this 2x promotion should stack with this separate promotion giving 25% bonus Rapid Rewards points that are also Companion Pass qualifying.

Can this stack with shopping portals? If you know.
I got 5X total points up to $1k targeted for grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants. January 15-March 31.
I also have that on my United card plus the 9,000 points for $3k spend promo from United.
