I recently realized that my wife has an interesting promotion within her Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards account that is going to give her extra points at gas stations, grocery stores, and on diningĀ for the rest of 2024. According to the terms, this started on 2/1/24. This showed up under her “Promotions” tab within her Southwest Airlines account, but neither of us recalled registering for it. Still, it’s worth taking a look if you think you might qualify.
The Deal
- Some Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards members are being targeted for an offer to earn 3 points per dollar spent on qualifying purchases in the gas stations, grocery stores, and dining categories on their Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card through 12/31/24. - Log in to your Southwest Airlines account and check the “Promotions” section on your “My Account” page to see if you are targeted

Quick Thoughts
This offer is quite interesting for those Southwest Airlines credit card holders who get targeted since it will mean that you’ll be able to earn 3x at gas stations, grocery stores, and on diningĀ for the rest of 2024 when you use your Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card for those purchases.
Interestingly, the terms do not specifyĀ which Southwest card you need to have, so I assume this may be targeted to a variety of cardholders. My wife has the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority card and she also has a business card, but this offer may be out on other Southwest cards.
Interestingly, this promotion is good for the rest of this year and it specifies thatĀ the bonus points are Companion Pass qualifying. That would mean that a targeted cardholder could spend $41,667 in the included bonus categories and earn enough points for a Companion Pass (since Southwest gives cardholders a 10,000 point “boost” (i.e. discount) toward the 135,000 points required to earn a Companion Pass.
While 3 Southwest points per dollar isn’t necessarily the best return in any of those bonus categories, it certainly isn’t a bad rate of return. Being able to earn points toward the Companion Pass at a decent category bonus will be a great deal for some.
It is interesting to note that this bonus appears to be offered directly by Southwest rather than by Chase. The terms indicate that the bonus points will not be reflected on your credit card statement and will post separately at a later date.
Again, we found this under the “Promotions” section within my wife’s Southwest Airlines account (not her credit card account). You can log in and go to “My Account” and then scroll toward the bottom left of your “My Account” page for promotions or you might be able to log in to your Southwest account and check here.
I was targeted for the promotion, and have both the Southwest Performance Business and Southwest Priority credit cards from Chase. The thing I cannot tell is whether this is good for both cards, or just one (i.e., if I try to utilize the promotion, can I use both cards or is it just targeted to one of them). Has anyone been able to determine this?
I just applied for Chase SW Rapid Rewards Plus card on Monday 3/11 and I did not get the targeted promotion š so I called SW and they said it is a special targeted promotion. Crossing my fingers
Thanks for posting this, Nick! I checked and I have this deal on my account. I had not been aware of it.
I registered for this promotion. I have the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority card. It has been a week since the end of the Chase billing cycle. No promotion points yet.
The terms state it will take 8 weeks to post these points separately from the Chase statement roll date
This is all I got. Not great….When you register and make $6,000 of purchases on your Rapid RewardsĀ® Credit Card between 2/1/2024-4/30/2024, you’ll earn 25% bonus points on purchases made on your Rapid Rewards Credit Card during the Promotion Period (up to 20,000 points). Plus, all points count toward Companion Pass.Ā®
