Quick Thoughts
Thrifty Traveler is a service that provides notification of flight deals both domestically and internationally. There’s a free subscription tier to try out the service, although you receive notification about a limited number of deals, plus the emails are sent out 24 hours after Premium and Premium+ subscribers receive them.
Premium subscribers are notified about ~10X more deals and receive those instantly. Premium+ subscribers meanwhile get notified about ~15X more deals than free subscribers, plus you’ll get notifications about hotels bookable with points, as well as having hotels suggested with flight deals.

At the moment, Thrifty Traveler Premium costs $99.99 per year (reduced to $79.99 for the first year with our link), while Premium+ costs $149.99 per year (reduced to $129.99 for the first year with our link). Both of those are the prices for the lifetime of your subscription, so if you sign up by March 13 you’ll maintain that pricing on an ongoing basis.
From March 14, Thrifty Traveler Premium will increase to $129.99 per year, while Premium+ will increase to $189.99. As a result, if you are interested in subscribing then doing so in the next few days will save you a fair amount of money if you keep the subscription for many years.
I’ve not used Thrifty Traveler Premium before, so I can’t recommend it one way or another. If you’re an existing or past subscriber, please let us know in the comments if you get/got good value from the service.

I find the notifications for both paid and award flights valuable, though hotels are less useful due to my travel patterns. Premium lets you filter by airport, cabin, type of deal, etc. I’m locked in at an even lower price from several years ago, so renewing is a no-brainer. Highly recommended!
I don’t really get great value out of award flights since most of the awards they sent out are commonly available awards, but for people like me who do buy a fair amount of cheap economy flights on top of award flights, it has saved me well more than the $99 a year it costs each year.
That being said, it’s best for people who have flexible dates and flexible destinations and are willing to go wherever the cash deals pop up. If you have fixed dates and destinations, you might as well just track your flight for free in Google Flights. I can go on vacation whenever and wherever since I work partly remotely and am single with no kids, so I’ll leave a few vacation days for a spontaneous vacation somewhere if I see a good Thrifty Traveler alert.
Also, Going, another popular site (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) is $49/year for their Premium tier so that may be a more economical option as well if your goal is just to find cheap cash economy flights (I find Thrifty finds better fares but Going is not a bad 2nd option for half the price)
