American Express is currently offering transfer bonuses to several different airline and hotel partners. They launched a new one yesterday – a 25% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards to JetBlue. Before you get too excited though, this just makes the transfer ratio the same as both Ultimate Rewards and ThankYou.
The Deal
- Transfer Membership Rewards to your JetBlue TrueBlue account with a 25% bonus.
Key Terms
- Minimum transfer is 250 Membership Rewards points.
- Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. MT on October 21st, 2019 to 11:59 p.m. MT on December 21st, 2019 to receive 25% additional TrueBlue points.
- Additional TrueBlue points will be awarded at the time of transfer.
Quick Thoughts
It’s always nice when any of the transferable currencies offer a transfer bonus, but like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, this isn’t one to get too excited about.
The reason why is because Membership Rewards normally transfer to JetBlue on a 250:200 basis. The 25% bonus means that increases to a 250:250 basis. That 1:1 ratio is the same that Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou offer day-to-day, so it’s simply putting them on a par with them.
Amex also offered a transfer bonus as high as 50% just a few months ago. That one was targeted, so at least this one is available to everyone with cards that allow them to transfer Membership Rewards to partners.
One thing to also bear in mind is that similar to transfers to Delta, American Express charges an Excise Tax Offset Fee when transferring points to JetBlue. That means transferring Ultimate Rewards or ThankYou points can be better value, although it also depends on your valuation of the different transferable currencies.
