There’s a TripFuel Amex Offer that’s appeared today giving $50 back when spending $200. While you’d be forgoing points earning, elite night credits, status perks, etc., this deal might be worth considering in some circumstances.

- Expires November 14, 2018.

Quick Thoughts
TripFuel appears to be a white labeled version of HotelStorm, so that’s why the results page might look familiar when doing a search.
These types of OTAs aren’t great if you want to collect points, elite night credits and/or get status perks as you won’t receive any of those at most chains when booking through a site like this.
For stays where those aren’t important though, this offer’s worth considering. For example, if you’ll be staying at a hotel that provides breakfast and you’re not interested in earning their points, this TripFuel Amex Offer can save you up to 25% on the stay. An added benefit of this Amex Offer is that the $200 can include taxes and fees, making it easier to get closer to those 25% savings.
Depending on how many nights you’d be staying, the HotelStorm partnership with T-Mobile Tuesdays might offer a better return seeing as it gives a $50 Amazon gift card per night.
Having said all that, Hotels.com can be better for stays where you don’t want to collect points, get status benefits, etc. That’s because you can frequently buy discounted gift cards for 15-20% off, plus their Welcome Rewards program earns you 10% of the room rate towards future stays after 10 nights. Hotels.com also has much better filtering options (e.g. searching for pet-friendly hotels) that TripFuel, HotelStorm, etc. don’t offer.
The TripFuel results page is also a little confusing. It lists a figure as ‘Avg/Night/Room’ which makes it sound like that’s how much you’d be paying per room per night on average.
Nope.
That’s the total amount for your stay (before taxes and fees), so the Residence Inn South Bend isn’t actually charging $875 per night, as nice as I’m sure it is.
Even though I prefer Hotels.com for these types of bookings, this TripFuel Amex Offer at least provides the (up to) 25% discount up front.
Looks like the avg/night/room was a bug, it’s updated to total trip price now
