- To qualify for this offer, members must register for the promotion at www.united.com/pointstomiles between October 12, 2016 and November 30, 2016 (“Promotional Period”).
- A member must earn award miles as a result of one or more points to miles conversion transactions from any combination of MileagePlus hotel partner programs that offer a points to miles transfer program that are conducted during the Promotional Period (“Qualifying Activity”) in order to qualify for MileagePlus Hotel Points-to-Miles bonus miles (“Bonus Miles”).
- At the conclusion of the promotion, all miles earned by each member from Qualifying Activity will be multiplied by 25% (with exception of miles earned from Qualifying Activity with Club Carlson, which will instead be multiplied by 40%, and miles earned from Qualifying Activity with Choice Privileges, which will instead be multiplied by 50%, in each case without duplication of bonuses) to determine the eligible bonus up to a maximum of 20,000 Bonus Miles.
- Bonus Miles will be credited into the member’s account on or before January 30, 2017.
You can find the full terms and register on the promotional page.
Sample Opportunity
One interesting opportunity created by this promotion is with Marriott’s travel packages. For example, since SPG points convert to Marriott at 1:3, you could convert 90K SPG points to 270K Marriott Rewards points. Those 270K Marriott points would get you a 7 night category 1-5 hotel voucher plus 132K United Miles. In addition, you would receive the maximum bonus under this promotion of 20K miles bringing your total to 152K. Keep in mind United miles aren’t as valuable as they were given the recent removal of stopovers on awards.

I received the points but my husband hasnt
Has anyone received the bonus points?
I did the transfer right after reading this and still have not received any bonus points.
Can you tell me what happens when you initiate the transfer within the promo period if the hotel doesn’t transfer them in time?

I do not understand step 2 under “Key Terms and Registering”. Is a hotel stay required during the transfer period? I am talking HHonors points to UA.

How do you getting the United 152k and 7 days certificate. As if you call the agents you will get normal 132k miles and 7 days certificate, right? How do you get the 25% bonus miles.
Ah got it! Didn’t know about the hotel+air packages. That’s a really great redemption for 90k spg points. I think I will have to take advantage of this.
Can you please confirm if 5000 choice privilege points will covert to 1250 united miles? I have a few choice privilege points sitting in my account which I don’t anticipate using anytime soon, so this seems to be a good opportunity to convert them.
Turn 168000 Marriott into 93750 United makes is a great deal for me, so I converted.
Did you complete transfer? How much time it took miles to post & did bonus post immediately or need to wait for 3 months?
How did you do that? https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/mileageplus/transfer/hotelandcar.aspx shows only 20% bonus
TIA
@ Aaron — the math is correct.
Shawns math is correct. He is talking about converting thru travel packages w/marriott.
I may end up doing this. 152k United miles is a fair amount especially if your near a United hub.
Could you show your math of how you’re calculating 90k spg would convert to 7 night voucher for category 1-5 stay plus 132k United miles (152k after promotion). Isn’t Marriott to united a 25% conversion ratio? (8000 Marriott = 2000 United miles)? It feels like your calc is way over inflated.
