Quick Thoughts
This isn’t much of a deal if you’re based on the west coast because I’m seeing saver award flights from LAX to HNL from only 9,800 MileagePlus miles which are available to anyone, not just cardholders and those with status.
Where this promotion shines is on flights from further afield like the east coast. For example, standard saver awards from Newark to Honolulu are pricing out at 22,500 miles each way. With this sale, those same flights can be booked from as low as 12,000 miles each way if you have both Premier status and have a United credit card of some kind. That includes the direct EWR-HNL flight, along with other options with a layover. While standard saver awards would still be cheaper booked with Turkish Miles & Smiles, that can be a lot of hassle and the delays with Turkish getting those booked could result in the award availability disappearing, especially with this United award sale now appearing.
Although this award sale is valid on flights from January 18 to March 5, you have to book them by tonight, so don’t delay if you’re interested.
Booked this deal today, awesome fare. Got three tix for President’s Day week, valued at a staggering 5.2 cents/mile. Awesome use of 24K points/person!
It is a great deal for E but all of the F class are mixed (LIH-SFO-beyond). The LIH-SFO portion, the key leg, is always in E on my dates in Jan. Still, if you don’t mind flying E then it’s a great deal. Love your weekly show, btw!
