Last week, Mesa became the first transferable points program to partner with Omni Hotels, a small North American hotel brand with around 50 properties across the US, Mexico, and Canada. While the footprint is small, many of the hotels are quite lovely.
However, there’s another benefit that Mesa left curiously unsaid in its announcement: anyone who transfers Mesa points to Omni within the first three months of the partnership will receive complimentary Omni Champion Status through the end of 2026. This is Omni’s second-highest elite level and includes upgrades, early check-in, late check-out, welcome amenities, and complimentary pressing & shoe-shine.

The Deal
- Mesa members who transfer points to Omni Select Guest for a free night award within the first three months will receive Omni Champion elite status until 12/31/26.

- Omni Champion benefits include:
- One-category room upgrade (based on availability)
- 1 pm check-in (based on availability)
- 3 pm check-out (based on availability)
- Locally-crafted welcome amenity
- Four items of complimentary pressing and shoe-shine per day
- Complimentary daily beverage
- Our assumption is that “first three months” means any time from the launch date of 12/5/25 to 3/5/26, but we’d recommend making the first redemption in December, January, or February in the event that March isn’t included.

Quick Thoughts
Having the option to book Omni with Mesa is a welcome addition to the points-and-miles landscape. Being able to get a free year of elite status along with it is even better.
As any Mesa member knows, communication isn’t always the strong suit of this admittedly innovative startup. So, when we were first notified about the Omni Hotels being added, there was no mention of elite status. In fact, it wasn’t until I investigated the transfer flow on the Mesa that I even realized there was an elite status offer.
Omni Select Guest has a unique reward system: 100 credits earn a free night award, which can then be used at any Omni property, regardless of cash price. Using Mesa lets you transfer 30,000 points for a free night award; there’s no option to use fewer points for fewer credits. However, the nightly rates at many of the higher-end Omni hotels make it reasonably easy to get over 2 cents per Mesa point when using them this way.
Curious about the Champion status, I transferred 30,000 points to Omni. A couple of hours later, I saw a free night award had been deposited into my Omni Select Guest account, and it now showed I had Champion status. There was only one problem: it expires 12/31/25, less than a month from now:

Bummer. There were no terms in the Mesa promo email, and nothing that said what the length of the free status we were being given would be. I figured that it must be through the end of the calendar year, and I had messed up by transferring so soon.
We reached out to Mesa to ask about it and received the following response:
It (The free status) is until December 2026 for any date transfer now or next year. They will update the dates on your account to say 2026 come January 2026. That is what they (Omni) have confirmed with us.
So, as long as you transfer points from Mesa to Omni anytime within the first three months, you’ll have Champion status through 2026.
Omni Champion won’t have anyone ditching their Hyatt Globalist status any time soon. Still, after some research, it seems most benefits are consistently honored, and the welcome amenities are pretty substantial. Here’s what one redditor had to say:
I stayed at the Omni Nashville last weekend for 3 nights – as a Champion rewards member, they left me a really cute gift in my room (cowboy hat, bandana, local popcorn, a chocolate covered guitar, trail mix, and more), upgraded my room to a higher floor, gave me unlimited water and Keurig cups, and gave me 3 drink coupons for any bar in the hotel – which I used for things like Old Fashioneds and a Dirty Martini (which were close to $20 each with tax). If you don’t drink, you could use it for coffee or juice brought up to your room.
Given Omni’s limited footprint, opportunities to enjoy Champion status over the next year will likely be relatively limited. However, it’s a great addition if you’re going to use some Mesa points at an Omni hotel anyway.

So without this status I can’t get “late check-in” or “early check-out” ?
Nope, they give those benefits to all guests.
Does the free night award expire?
Yes, 36 months after issue. They can also take your credits if you haven’t had any activity on your account for 24 months. I assume that would also apply to the free night award, but I’m not certain.
