Valentine’s Day Portal Bonuses: Earn Extra Miles With American & United

There are a couple of new bonus offers for the American Airlines and United Airlines shopping portals in the lead up to Valentine’s Day. It’s therefore worth bearing these in mind when doing any shopping over the coming weeks.

American Airlines

The American Airlines portal is offering 500 bonus miles when spending $200 between January 29, 2018 and February 11, 2018.

Here are the key terms:

During the “Valentine’s Day” bonus offer which runs from 1/29/18 through 2/11/18 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of 500 AAdvantage® miles on qualifying purchases, in addition to the standard AAdvantage® miles earned from shopping online through the AAdvantage eShoppingSM mall.

United Airlines

Similar to the American Airlines offer, the United portal is also offering 500 bonus miles when spending $200 between January 29, 2018 and February 11, 2018.

Here are the key terms for the United offer (bolding my own):

During the “Valentine’s Day” bonus campaign, which runs from 1/29/18 through 2/11/18 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of 500 MileagePlus® bonus award miles on qualifying purchases, in addition to the standard MileagePlus® miles earned from shopping online through the MileagePlus® Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus® Shopping in-store offers.

Quick Thoughts

Both of these offers represent a bonus of 2.5 miles per dollar spent. As always, be sure to compare rates on Cashback Monitor as an extra 2.5 miles per dollar may still be less than you can earn through other portals.

What’s nice about the United offer is that it includes purchases made in-store at certain retailers. Be sure to link your card(s) before making any in-store purchases.
