Hawaii is one of my favorite destinations in the world.  Pictured above is a view from a path near the Andaz Maui.  And below is a view from a hike in Koke State Park at the end of an incredible drive along Waimea Canyon in Kauai.  How can you not love this stuff?

One aspect that’s hard to love (especially for those of us who don’t live on the west coast) is the long journey to get there.  That journey can be made a little easier by booking first class.  To help you do so, I’ve created a new resource on this blog:

Best options for first class awards to Hawaii

Most airlines charge a minimum of 80,000 miles for round-trip first class flights to Hawaii, but there are several better alternatives.  In this guide you’ll find a number of options for 60K miles round-trip, and one option for just 45K miles round-trip.  Enjoy!

We are flying AA this summer to Honolulu from Chicago. After much research we chose to go through DFW coming and going because we get lie flat seats on those flights. We paid for me and my kids(19 and 12 year old) and for my husbands ticket he used his AAdvantage miles. 90k going and 67.5k coming back. There were no Mile Saver Awards to be found.. but we have made those long journeys to Honolulu before on economy.. and to us..well worth going on First.

Nice site. I am trying to start to plan a honeymoon to Maui from Pittsburgh Feb 2018 (flexible) and we want to fly first class (with lay flats). Its a challenging and intimidating process to to to figure out how to make this work both cost effectively and with actual nice flights. Any chance you can reach out to me with some tips?

Thanks

Josh
