Wyndham cardholder promo: Earn 3k bonus points when paying 3 different bills 3 consecutive months

10

A couple of months ago, Chase Hyatt cardholders were targeted with an offer giving bonus points when making three payments for three different service providers for three consecutive months. Barclays Wyndham cardholders are now being targeted with an almost identical offer.

Wyndham Rewards credit card bill pay bonus points

The Deal

  • Make three bill payments per month to the following service providers for three consecutive months on a targeted Wyndham credit card & earn 3,000 bonus points:
    • Internet, Cable & Phone Services
    • Select Streaming Services
    • Utilities
    • Fitness Clubs & Gym Memberships
    • Local Transit & Commuting
  • Direct link to registration.

Key Terms

  • Set up automatic recurring bill payments using your Card with each of three different merchants, which bill payments have qualifying MCCs no later than August 31, 2025.
  • After registration but no later than August 31, 2025, complete at least one (1) online payment per calendar month with each such merchant, during a three (3) consecutive calendar month period. Without limiting the foregoing, for clarity, to qualify for this offer, the recurring bill payments to each of three (3) different qualifying merchants must all occur during the same three (3) consecutive months period of time, such that at the end of such period, a total of nine (9) recurring bill payments have been completed (three (3) for each month). For the avoidance of doubt, any payments made with your Card outside of the recurring bill pay process described above, including, without limitation, payments made in person and/or directly on a merchant’s website, will not count toward this offer. For clarity, the latest that the third consecutive month online payment can be made to a merchant is no later than November 30, 2025.
  • All bonus points earned will appear on your statement 10 – 12 weeks after completion of the Qualifying Activity.

Quick Thoughts

Registration for this offer is conducted on Visa’s website rather than the Barclays website, so that’s presumably why it’s almost exactly the same as the offer for Hyatt Visa cardholders.

There are two main differences between the two. Four of the spending categories match, but Wyndham cardholders also get an option of ‘select streaming services’. Unfortunately the terms don’t state which select streaming services those are, so it might be best not to count on that one just in case whichever service you pick is, for some reason, not eligible.

The other main difference is that this Wyndham offer awards 3,000 bonus points when completing the nine total payments, whereas Hyatt cardholders earn 5,000 bonus points. Given the relative value of Hyatt points to Wyndham points, the Hyatt cardholder offer is therefore about twice as good, so it’d be best to focus on that one first.

It doesn’t have to be an either/or situation though. The Hyatt offer has to have payments completed by June, whereas the Wyndham cardholder offer can be completed by November, so there’s time to do both.

I did get a targeted email, but when I try to register I am getting a generic error message ‘We’re unable to process your registration due to incorrect information’. Anyone else getting this?

Jason

Could you just charge $1 to each of the 3 companies each month for 3 months?

Andrew

Interesting. It’s a little bit of a hassle to set up bill pay if you don’t typically use it but for Earner Business cardholders you’d be able to do this while getting good returns on many categories. Utilities, phone, internet, and cable all earn 5X on the Earner Business which is as good as it gets in those categories without AMEX or Chase offers.

I already use my Wyndham Earner Business for my utilities & gas, so I nearly hit the measly $1K limit they have on my card when I have ~two months worth of purchases on the card (last month’s plus this month’s, before I pay the bill). I have read that asking for an increase in the limit usually results in a hard-pull and I am not keen to do that. So this promo is not enough to make me change how I approach this card, unless they decide to bump my credit limit.

Frank

Why not just pre-pay the card? I do that regularly to keep my credit score low.

jeph36

I certainly could, but I will probably not bother just for this promo (not to mention that I do not have enough other charges to trigger the promo requirements). I do not do pre-pay on any other cards, and this one has no effect on credit utilization reported to credit bureaus since it is a business card. My point is, if they want me to spend on their card and have promos to encourage that, they should at least give me a credit limit that is reasonable to allow me to do so.

Frank

I am confused. Can all these 3 payments each month be in the same category, just different vendors? Like different utility companies?

Frank

Thanks, I’ll give it a go.
