Wyndham Vacation Club doubling award prices for Hawaii properties (last day to book)

5

Along with Vacasa Vacation Rentals and Cottages.com, Wyndham Vacation Club is one of the best uses of Wyndham Points, allowing members to book condos (usually with full kitchens) for as few as 7,500 points per night.

A member of Frequent Miler Insiders reached out to us yesterday to alert us to changes in the tier level of 39 very popular Wyndham Vacation Club properties across the US and Canada, including nearly every location in Hawai’i.

The Hawai’i properties are among 37 that will double in price starting Saturday, October 17th. This means that a one-bedroom unit you can book today for 15,000 points per night will be 30,000 points after today.

Quick Thoughts

This is a bummer to see, as we’ve heard from many folks over the years who’ve been getting great value by using points to book condos through Wyndham Vacation Club. My wife and I spent the weekend at WorldMark Vancouver last year while Bruce Springsteen was in town, and a one-bedroom unit with a lovely view that would have cost us ~$700/night was only 27,000 points for the entire weekend (including the 10% discount on award bookings for Wyndham cardholders).

There are many very popular locations in the list above, but the ones that we’ve heard the most about from readers are (unsurprisingly) located in Hawai’i. For some time now, all of those properties could be booked for 15K points per bedroom per night, and while availability wasn’t always easy to find, it was a great deal when you could book it.

Assuming that changes go live early tomorrow morning, today is the last day to take advantage of the current 15K rates. If you’ve wanted to check out any of the properties above, or if they’re areas you plan to visit, it’s worth taking a look at availability.

I’m pretty sure that finding award availability today at any of these Club Wyndhams that are going up in price would be a bit like winning a lottery prize. In the best of circumstances, many (most?) of these properties don’t actually load ANY availabiltiy. Like I haven’t seen any availability in Kauai in a year, and for some of these properties — like the WorldMark West Yellowstone — I’ve NEVER seen any award availability (even in the most off-peak of times).

It would actually be an improvement if the higher award prices were accompanied by better availability, but I doubt that will happen. Like many timeshare brands with similar names, Club Wyndham isn’t owned by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and their properties don’t seem to have any obligation to provide award availability.

Princeville properties are tough for 2026 right now, but have been decent for 2025.
Shell Kauai Coast – east side is very open from April- on

Big island has good availability all around. You can even book a 2 BR ohana suite at Paniolo Greens for 15,000, great availability

There’s some good stuff out there

Matt

Is there a way to search for calendar view for these properties?

Justin

Well, what I do is click on the cash button and see which dates they are selling with cash. This doesn’t always mean award space, but it often does. Nothing foolproof but you’ll quickly see what isn’t possible

Jeff

Timely post as I was debating whether I shoudl buy more points at $.0068. Seems the devaluations are coming in fast so this pushes me to decision not spend the money.
