PayPal Digital Gifts via eBay has Southwest Airlines eGift Cards on sale: buy a $150 Southwest Airlines gift card for $135. Coincidentally, Southwest has also extended their schedule for bookings through November 3, 2018 along with making some new route announcements as noted below.

The Deal

Quick Thoughts

While PayPal Digital gifts no longer codes at 5x for Ink cards (See: What’s left for 5x Ink?) or 3x on the AT&T Access More card (See: Increase credit card spend and get most of it back. What still works March 2018?), a 10% discount on airfare is still solid. As a Companion Pass holder (See: Complete Guide to the Southwest Companion Pass), I enjoy the opportunity to save a few bucks on Southwest gift cards now and then as I know they’ll get use in my household. That said, keep in mind that Wanna Get Away fares purchased with a Southwest gift card and then cancelled will qualify for a credit good for one year from the date of booking, whereas points bookings are immediately deposited to your account without restriction. Points are certainly more flexible — but I like saving a few bucks when I know plans won’t change.

As noted at the top, Southwest has extended the schedule today for bookings through November 3, 2018.

Would this qualify for AMEX Platinum airline credit?

Nick Reyes

No. Your charge would have to be directly with the airline to trigger an Amex airline credit. See this post for what works, keeping in mind that the charge would have to be directly with the airline:
