You save 10c per gallon for every 100 points you earn, so buying a $100 Google Play gift card will save you $1 per gallon. The discount can be used on up to 20 gallons, so a $100 gift card purchase can save up to $20.

That means this deal might make sense for gift card resellers, so long as you can sell the cards for 80% or higher. As always, pay with a card that earns a category bonus at grocery stores. Discover’s 5% at grocery stores ends in a few days, so this could be a good way to max out your category bonus if you’ve not hit the $1,500 limit yet.

I came across this offer while looking for the 2x fuel points on Mastercard gift cards that Doctor of Credit wrote about today. That offer didn’t show up on the weekly ads based on the zip code I entered, so this Google Play offer – and the Mastercard one – might only be in certain regions. Edit: The Mastercard offer starts on June 29.
