Rakuten is currently offering 10% back / 10x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent in-store at Staples. I recommend proceeding with a modicum of caution, but this could be a great deal when stacked with a card that earns 5x at office supply stores.

Quick Thoughts
This is a great deal if you’re shopping in-store — and it gets even better if you sync this in-store offer to a card that earns one of the best category bonuses at office supply stores.
The terms note that gift card purchases are excluded and you are limited to earning $15 / 1,500 points at a time (and a maximum of 4 redemptions). I’ve heard reports from readers over the years who have been warned off of heavy gift card purchase activity, though in this case I’m not even sure if it would track and if it did the limit is pretty low. Still, if you’re shopping at Staples, this could be a great deal.

I strongly recommend everyone check out the DoC thread about this deal. Most of us were able to max out this deal at 12k MR + 6k UR… very nice indeed for very little work.
Never mind, points are being clawed back. 🙁
Do you need to space these out or can you select about $150 worth of merchandise, ring it though and then repeat immediately? Or do you need to wait time? Anyone have experience?
Linked my Cap1VX and selected the offer. Went in to Staples to buy a $100 gift card for HD and my card was rejected by Staples. The checkout computer gave a message of “please select a different form of payment” Luckily I had my Ink Cash card with me so I still got 5x on the spend. Unable to link my Ink Cash card to my Rakuten wallet for in-store purchases. I get the “opps” message. Called C1 and they insisted the issue was on the Staples end and not a C1 decline.
Something doesn’t smell right..:(
How long does it take to track in Rakuten? Made a purchase two days ago and still nothing showing
Any ideas how the multiple redemptions works? Do you have to space them out or can you do the orders back to back? Do you have to relink the offer each time? Even if you use different credit cards?
I am getting below error when activating my chase ink card… Oops. We weren’t able to enable this card for In-Store Cash Back. Please try again later
Check if you have it enabled on any other family members Rakuten account? I had that issue.
Mine was capped at $30/transaction up to 4 transactions.
I think I asked this question previously. I was able to load P2’s card into my Rakuten wallet but I am unable to activate it for In-store offers. Is that by design or can I fix this?
Does the maximum cashback count for each redemption, or is it cumulative? In other words, can I make four separate purchases that yield me $60 (15×4) from Rakuten, or does it get capped at $15 between the four transactions?
It should be $60, or in other words, $15 per transaction.
