There is a new Amex Offer out today for Lenovo that’s good for 15% back on LenovoPro purchases (up to $100 back, enrollment required). I’m not sure whether this will stack successfully with a shopping portal, but if it does you could get a really nice return on a Lenovo purchase.

Quick Thoughts

The offer terms say that you need to purchase at Lenovo.com/PROAmex. In practice, despite terms indicating a specific URL in many offers, it usually isn’t necessary to go to the specific URL to trigger the Amex Offer. That said, there have been some instances where it is necessary. I’m not sure which way this one goes.

I suspect that you can probably click through a shopping portal and earn a return from the portal and the Amex Offer. If that’s true and you’ve had an eye on Lenovo products, this would be a great offer to sync up. Rakuten is currently offering 10% back (or 10 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent). Retailmenot is offering 12% back up to $200.

Since the Amex Offer is capped at $100 back, that means the maximum purchase amount on which you’ll earn the full 15% back is $666.67. If you go through Retailmenot, you would expect another $80 back on top of $100 from the Amex Offer, which would knock your net cost down to $486.67 for a $666.67 purchase. That’s a pretty nice discount. Alternatively, depending on how you value Membership Rewards points, you may prefer going through Rakuten for 6,666.67 Membership Rewards points.

Again, I’m not totally positive that this will stack. If anyone has used this offer previously (this Lenovo offer has come around a few times), let us know if you stacked it in the comments.

Yes. I could confirm that Nick is right about using the shopping portal. I just placed an order of Lenovo ThinkPad T14s through the Rakuten portal, which offers 12% back today, and I paid with the enrolled AMEX card. I already received the email from AMEX, titled with “Great news! You recently used your Amex Offer at LENOVO”. So it seems to work well.

Thanks for that datapoint! In case it helps anyone else, I can confirm it still works – plus Lenovo allows split payments, so I used my BBP as well as P2’s, and the credit showed up on both cards a few days later (no email though).
