Quick Thoughts

This is a pretty easy deal that would potentially make for a nice discount on a cheap Amazon order. I initially thought that this might be useful for a third-party gift card purchase, but I see that those are sold by ACI Gift Cards, “an Amazon company”, but the terms above indicate that only items fulfilled by Amazon or Amazon Digital Services” will qualify — it specifically says that other Amazon entities will not qualify. Still, I shop enough at Amazon to make good use of this, especially given the current holiday shopping period.

The terms indicate that this can not be combined with any other offer, so I’m not positive whether this would stack with current targeted offers for 20% off when using at least 1 Amex Membership Rewards point or similar targeted offers when using Discover cash back or Chase Ultimate Rewards to pay.

Even if not, this looks like a pretty easy deal to trigger that’s pretty low-hanging fruit. I’m unlikely to switch over to Amazon photos. While I used to be wary of privacy concerns, I’ve become so entrenched in the convenience of Google Photos that it would be hard to imagine switching. I was driving to New York City last weekend and wanted to book a cheap parking space with the Park Whiz app (Stephen’s post about that saved me money yet again!). I needed the plate number for my car, but I didn’t know it, didn’t immediately see my registration in the dash, and didn’t want to stop to look at it (my wife was driving). I was easily able to search “SUV” in Google Photos on my phone and find a picture of my car with the license plate. When writing posts here, I often want a picture from a particular city or country and I find Google photos to be so convenient for searching by location. I ditched privacy for convenience — a trade I don’t necessarily recommend but which has become a huge time-saver for me so I’ve accepted it.

At any rate, I’ll try this out and take my $15 credit as I frequently order from Amazon. This is an easy win.
