There’s a new Amex Offer out today that’s good for $150 back when you spend $500 or more at Christy Sports. This is good online or in-store. I wasn’t familiar with Christy Sports, but in addition to selling skis/snowboards, they also sell patio furniture and grilling accessories. For those that live near a store, a potential use that stood out to me would be on a Big Green Egg if you’re looking for one. Given that it’s barbecue season, that could be a good way to save a nice chunk on one if you’re buying new.

Quick Thoughts

Like I said, the Big Green Egg stood out at me because I know it’s a product that is difficult to source at a big green discount. I bought mine used several years ago and I’m a fan. They are surely overpriced (which is why I bought used) — but like Apple products or many other name-brands, it just isn’t as easy to get a big discount on one. Getting $150 back seemed about as good as it gets.

They also carry this hammock that I own. I like the hammock itself very much. The stand (which isn’t included at that price) has been a little disappointing — we take it down for the winter, but it still hasn’t withstood the elements as well as I’d like. I’ve probably had it for 6 or 7 years and it still works, but it is splitting in a couple of places. I paid a lot less for the hammock (and bought a couple of them), so I’d keep my eye out for a sale on that if I were interested in buying it. The hammock itself looks as good as new today after years outside in the sun and rain during the summer.

I imagine that maybe you could turn this into a deal on skiing or snowboarding equipment as well, though I’m totally out of my element there as I’m a palm trees and sunshine kind of guy myself.

Overall, it’s interesting to see such a large cash credit possible at a retailer that likely stocks some stuff that is less often discounted than others. If you live near a store, perhaps they have attractive enough sales to really put this one to use for a good discount.
