A new Amex Offer came out yesterday that’s good for 1 extra point per dollar spent at BestBuy.com (online only) up to 5,000 points. While this isn’t a huge bonus, it adds a little extra earning if you’ll be shopping at Best Buy anyway.
The Deal
- A new Amex Offer is out this week that’s good for an extra 1 point per dollar spent at BestBuy.com (up to 5,000 points). Enrollment required.
Key Terms
- Valid until 12/15/22
- Only valid for online purchases made at BestBuy.com
- Excludes in-store purchases, GeekSquad, PartStore, Best Buy Private store, electronic gift cards, and several other similar items (see offer for full details)
Quick Thoughts
While an extra point per dollar doesn’t move the needle in getting me particularly excited on the earn side, it certainly beats one fewer point per dollar spent. If you sync this up strategically on a card where you’re working on a welcome bonus or retention offer or are otherwise earning more than 1x, it could be a nice small bonus. On the flip side, if you want Amex Platinum card purchase protections but struggle with the idea of getting 1x, this could at least help you get reasonable return on send while maintaining those purchase protections.
Keep in mind also that the Amex Business Platinum card earns 1.5x at Best Buy, so syncing up this offer on that card could net you 2.5x total.
All that said, keep in mind that the PointCard debit card has consistently offered 5x (worth 5% back) at Best Buy on up to $1K in purchases per period (usually about a month long). That’s a much stronger return in my opinion.
