Rakuten.com is offering 20% off sitewide today (up to a maximum savings of $50) with coupon code FLASH20. Miles to Memories reports that it’s working on Xbox Live and Google Play gift cards, though note that the coupon code can only be used once per account and household on one transaction with one merchant. There also do not appear to be any brand exclusions, which might make this a nice way to grab a discount on an item with more standardized pricing. This might stack with 5% back from TopCashBack, though the terms there exclude computers, electronics, gift cards, and coupon codes not listed at TopCashBack. YMMV.

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, I don’t see any brand exclusions on this coupon. Just to test, I tried a couple of Canon items as I find that brands like Canon or Apple are often excluded from coupon discounts — but the cameras and Apple products I tried worked up to the max discount of $50. In fact, it has worked on anything I’ve added to my cart in my tests thus far. Be aware that Rakuten is an online marketplace, so do your due diligence on the seller from which you buy. While I’d trust a reputable camera outlet like Beach Camera or Focus Camera, there are other vendors I’ve never seen before. This discount also works on Nintendo products, popular toys — there are a wide range of options. Beyond the Xbox Live and Google Play gift cards, I also found iTunes gift cards, but they charged both tax and a shipping fee, negating the value of the coupon. It looks like the Xbox Live gift cards could be a break-even proposition (free rewards) depending on your bulk reselling relationships. Again, keep in mind that the coupon can only be used once per account/household.

If you make any great finds at Rakuten, let us know in the comments.

Looks like they limit the number of Xbox Live gift cards to one each, so I did one each of $100, $50, and $25. Got $35 off of $175. Working on my Southwest spends for the Companion Pass…
