20% transfer bonus: Chase to Avios programs

1

Chase Ultimate Rewards is currently offering a 20% transfer bonus when you transfer points to Aer Lingus, British Airways, or Iberia Avios programs. That can be a solid deal for one of the many Avios sweet spots. And keep in mind that since you can move points between the different airlines that use Avios as their frequent flyer currency, you could take advantage of this deal and ultimately move Avios to Qatar Airways or Finnair to take advantage of sweet spots with those programs as well.

The Deal

  • Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering a 20% transfer bonus when you transfer points to one of the following airline programs between March 1, 2025 and March 31, 2025:
    • Aer Lingus Aer Club
    • British Airways Executive Club
    • Iberia Plus
  • With the bonus, the transfer ratio is 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points = 1,200 Avios.

Key Terms

Example terms from transfers to Aer Lingus:

  • Get 20% Bonus Avios when you transfer points between 12:00 AM ET on March 1, 2025 and 11:59 PM ET on March 31, 2025. Bonus Avios will be awarded by Aer Lingus in your Aer Lingus AerClub account after your transfer is complete. Promotional offer terms and conditions apply.
  • All Ultimate Rewards points transferred to your AerClub account will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of AerClub and cannot be transferred back to your Chase Ultimate Rewards account.
  • Taxes, government-imposed fees and any applicable charges may apply on all Avios redemptions and upgrades, subject to your AerClub agreement.
  • Individual restrictions may apply.
  • Chase is not responsible for the availability of specific flights, routes, travel dates, or other promotions or considerations of AerClub.
  • Redemptions are subject to availability.
  • Chase is not responsible for the redemption of Avios.
  • Visit aerlingus.com/aerclub for more information including full terms and conditions.
  • Different redemption rates and cash/Avios apply to different carriers.

Quick Thoughts

It’s always great to see a transfer bonus bump when you have a great redemption in mind. With Iberia, British Airways, and Aer Lingus each offering a number of solid best uses, there’s no doubt that this bonus will be a welcome sight for some. Add in some sweet spots from Finnair and Qatar (and a few minutes reading about how to transfer your Avios between participating programs) and you’ve got some nice deals to be had.

On the flip side, I always hesitate to recommend a speculative transfer for a number of reasons. First, you never know when programs may change and best uses may end. You have a bit of insulation here in that regard since you can move Avios between several different programs if you end up finding a better use via another program. However, the other reason I hesitate to recommend a speculative transfer is because we sometimes see more generous transfer bonuses from other transferable currency programs. If you don’t need Avios now and you have points in other transferable currency programs, it probably makes more sense to hold off and simply keep an eye on our Current point transfer bonuses page.

Of course, if you’re able to find something like Iberia business class from New York to Madrid for 34,000 Avios, you could transfer just 29,000 Ultimate Rewards points and have enough Avios for a one-way business class award on that route to Europe. That would be a slamming deal.

With all the current transfer bonuses, I expect a big Avios devaluation coming very soon.
