$200 back on $400+ at Backcountry via card-linked offer. Stack with 15x.

There is a new card-linked offer out on some Visa Infinite cards that’s good for $200 back when spending $400 or more at Backcountry. That could be a great offer if you’re shopping for outdoor gear or maybe even something like a car-top carrier.

The Deal

  • A new card-linked offer is out on some Chase cards that’s good for $200 back when you spend $400 or more at Backcountry. My wife found this on her Chase Sapphire Reserve card

Key Terms

  • Expires 12/31/24

Quick Thoughts

In my household, my wife found this offer on her Chase Sapphire Reserve card and thus far I haven’t seen reports of the offer showing up on other cards, but YMMV. As is the case with Chase Offers, you’ll need to sync it up in your online login prior to making a purchase if you have the offer.

What could make this extra interesting is the stacking opportunity. Shopping portal Rakuten is currently offering 15% back or 15x Membership Rewards points at Backcountry. A $400 purchase would therefore yield 6,000 Membership Rewards points and trigger the offer. That could be a fantastic deal.

Backcountry is known for carrying outdoor gear for snow sports, water sports, hiking, and so on. They also have a few other things that could be of interest even if you’re not terribly outdoorsy. For instance, they have this Thule car-top carrier that would likely come to just over $400 with tax.

That carrier + about 6,000 Membership Rewards points for just over two hundred bucks would be a really good deal.

Backcountry also carries a number of GoPro models. Unfortunately, their prices are not very competitive with other sites on those right now, but they do offer a price match guarantee. I’d not expect to earn portal cash if making a price match guarantee claim, but the $200 back might be worth enough to forgo the cash back.

My order posted as two separate payments on CSR, will it still qualify or does it need to be $400 on one transaction?

Jimmy

I got $200 back on $400 on CSR and $50 back on $150 on CSP.

Not to nitpick, but if you spend just over $400 you won’t get 6000 points because the Chase offer includes sales tax and the Rakuten offer does not. (I think.)

Landon

Why does portal cash back not work when using a price match?

Dave

Portal cashback often has terms that explitictly exclude price-matched products. Also, even if not excluded by the terms, sometimes having to do the pricematch might change how the purchase is tracked so as not not auto-track.

ChillTheThrill

I had to chat with Backcountry to have them adjust the price on an Ooni Koda 16 pizza oven. Of course, this did not track with Rakuten. Anyone have success with Rakuten applying cashback to price-adjusted orders made through chat?

Andrew

I also got 200 off 400 on my CSR, thanks so much for pointing this out or I’d have totally missed it!

Alan

I got $50 off $150 on my CSP

actualmichael

I got the same $50 off $150 offer as well on my CSP. Thanks for the heads up!
